My feeling is, - if Arkansas isn't the first choice of instate kids, then I don't want them in Fayetteville.  I applaud outstanding Arkansas athletes who WANT to be Razorbacks.  Those who DON'T choose to be Razorbacks, I won't waste time commiserating over.  I don't wish them ill; I just don't care.

I’m telling you guys, you better stop the “he’s getting paid” crap. This kid isn’t and we are still recruiting him so you are in fact bashing a recruit. Would suck to get bant right here when things are getting good.

The precedent the Univ. of MS set is to pay for their players. It’s not HV’s fault, it’s the university’s.

What if we sign this guy?

https://247sports.com/Player/Melvin-McBride-46052349/
I thought we were pretty thin in the OL but looking at that 247 link it shows Louisville and Tennessee with only 3 scholarship OL after this season.  Shows us with 9.  Not sure how accurate their numbers are.

I also agree we still need quality OL regardless what offense we run.

Noah Gatlin had MSU, they aren't legit? Like Jones had Mizzou, I'd say the same. I guess Winkel's offers weren't legit?

So the OTs on our roster next season will have a total of 2 other SEC offers?  This is a good thing?

You don’t know for sure if he is or isn’t. When you commit to a dirty program you take what comes with it.

Darius Thomas has committed to Ole Miss.

That brings them up to 8 Offensive linemen, 7 DBs, and 28 total commits.  Remember that one time when HDN brought in like 7 RBs to Ole Miss.  Of the 8 OL, 6 are tackles.  I wonder how many they actually bring in.

I hope he is not getting paid but Ole Piss has set the standard and it is not on him, it is on them.  That being said, I do not understand why an Arkansas kid would go to Ole Piss.  Bama, Auburn, LSU and SEC East schools, I get, but Ole Piss...

Let’s look specifically at the position coaches at the two schools.

OM OL coach is Jack Bicknell. 30+ years of coaching experience, former college HC. 10 years NFL OL coaching experience including 2012 with the Giants when they won the super bowl.

Our OL coach has 3 years experience at SMU

Need another example?  Our DL recruiting is off the charts. I’d need a paragraph not a sentence to go over our DL coach’s resume.

Sometimes these things are as simple as that.

pretty much. and this dude's name will now be straight up forgotten. It's a shame, and i do wish him well. he'd just give himself many more opportunities by becoming a Hog- this year in particular. This class will be remembered. And it NEEDS lineman. Oh well. On to the next one- somebody we'll remember.

... And that is exactly what every coach that has been into his living room has told him. What they failed to tell him as that that very coach had his first season somewhere, and every other coach too, but it's not the years he spent coaching that taught him how to coach good linemen into stars. It's the good linemen that made him a good coach.
You give our guy 6 years and he'll have at least 6 in the league. Froholdt will only be the first. This kid is scared, probably too scared to be a Razorback. He's a coward and I stand by it. If he wakes up and chooses the Hog's before it's too late I'll commend him, until then. He's just another kid that doesn't think he's good enough to make it to the NFL from here... This state has NEVER had issues putting O-linemen into the NFL.

Hugh freeze might have left a tarnished legacy, but he did leave a legacy or winning there even if it was by obviously dubious means. Good luck to the kid.
I'm calling BS.  He had a 19-21 record in conference while at Ole Miss.

I don’t care who believes what, but if somebody is gonna post that a kid got paid they damn well better be prepared to prove it. Now I’m done with the subject. Time to move on unless he has a change of heart.

Guess it depends on whether or not going after him really hard was ever going to overcome the family liking Bielema and being closer to OM.

Would be a bigger mistake to pour resources into a kid they are not going to get.

Sure they made it clear up front what their feelings were in the matter, same things drove Rawleigh's brother away.

Doesn't detract, even remotely, from the tremendous run we're on.  Good luck at Ole Miss to the young man (except for one game per year).

Big mistake on the staff's part, IMO.  Especially as bad as we need tackles.
I'm not sure we can blame the staff on this one considering how well overall it appears they are recruiting, sometimes there are just bigger factors involved that lead a player to one school over the others. With that said I feel this coaching staff will get the players in that fill the needs of the team and right now it looks like they are working to improve the defense heavily first.

I don't think we will ever get super high rated OL with this system and staff and I don't think it's a major problem ... Oline is a position that many times underated guys Excell at .. you can make good oline ..

We are doing awesome this year so far on recruiting. I am however still concerned about the o-line, hopefully we can go fast enough to where its not noticeably bad.

There it is! I checked ‘em all out first, but, so far, this his one appears to be it! The Most Ridiculous Post of the thread!

Mistake on the staff’s part? What were they to do, kidnap the kid at gunpoint? Threaten to harm the family dog? I think it’s more likely exactly opposite as to who made the big mistake.
