Benintendi continues on his upswing going 2-4 with a double. Average up to .296 as he tries to get back over 300.

Comes up just short finishing 2nd in the AL voting for the last player into the All-Star game. I can't really quibble with the choice of Segura from Seattle who is hitting .330. Also tonight, Benintendi goes 2-4 to finish the night again hitting over .300 at .301. He now has six straight multi-hit games. Nice last two weeks for him. Red Sox will play one more series before the break. It will be four games at Toronto. Maybe the rest will help him for the 2nd half of the season. Still some chance he could be added to the squad if someone can't go to the game from those already selected. If not, I feel confident that he will go to many future games.

Benintendi will be facing All-Star selected left handed pitcher A J Happ tonight. He is 0-13 against him in his career so it will be a tough test. Amazing how well Boston is playing considering it’s injuries. Just today it was announced that Pedroia will most likely miss the rest of the year, starting catcher Vazquez had surgery on his hand and is out 6-8 weeks more, and starting 3B Dévers went on the DL today.

My son is a Marine stationed at Pendleton and has several friends that are Sox fans.  Earlier this year, the Sox were playing the Angels in Anaheim.  One of his friends had seats right behind the dugout and told one of the coaches he was a marine stationed there and a big Benintendi fan and asked if he could get him something autographed from him.  The coach said he would see but he's busy, so he figured the answer was no.  Later in the game the coach came over with an autographed bat he used in his first at bat.

Benintendi is all class.

Thanks for sharing. I went to a Red White football game when he was playing for the Razorbacks, and was fortunate enough to have a long conversation with his mom, about her being a cancer survivor.

We discussed my son's past history of being on the Razorback squad for two years, before deciding his future was not to be in baseball, as well as his ongoing battle with colon cancer.

He passed last June 22, and I'm sure he was rooting for the Hogs in Omaha.  His name was Greg Murtha for some of you that may have known him.

Hopefully, Benintindi's mom is still doing well.  She is a wonderful lady.

My two favorite players in all of Major League Baseball right now are Andrew Benintendi of the Red Sox and Whit Merrifield of the Kansas City Royals.  The way these two play the game is why I have had a life long love affair with baseball.  If the Royals continue their garage sale after the all star break [and they will, lol] I really hope the Red Sox get Merrifield to play 2nd base.  He would be a great addition to the team and  he deserves the chance to be with a winner.

Benintendi kicks off the second half of the season with a decent game. He goes 2-3 with a walk. Average back to .300. Scored the games only run in a 1-0 win over Detroit. One of only two batters in the game with multi-hits tonight.

The Red Sox get thumped 5-0 today despite Benintendi’s efforts. He goes 2-3 with a walk but other than Betts and him, the rest of the order was pretty inept. He finishes the game hitting .303 which is his high water mark for the year.

Benintendi continues his hot post-All-Star game break hitting. Another multi-hit games as he goes 2-4 including a bases loaded ground rule double that drove in two runs in a 5-3 Boston win. He finished the night hitting a season high .305. Only Red Sox player with more than one hit on the night.

One of my favorite Fenway visits Boston/Baltimore - it started to rain so a lot of the crowd left.
We moved from down the first base line to close to behind home plate.
Was thrilled to watch Cal Ripken, Jr. for the first time and sit beside Stephen King.

Andrew was 2-5 last night with a run scored and one driven in giving him 62 RBIs for the year.  He is in the top ten in the league in most hitting categories (not in average though).  He is currently hitting .298

If you project out the remaining games - at his current rate of production for his 99 ABS so far, he should have about 100 RBIs on the nose.

The Red Sox 8 run 4th inning was the most fun I've had watching MLB this year.
Of course, it could be the fact they did it against the Yankees.

The Sox offense was fun to watch tonight - home runs, singles, walks, stolen bases and great slides.
Quite an offensive display.

Benintendi was involved in two very interesting plays for Boston last night. With runners at first and third, he grounded back to the pitcher. The runner at third broke toward home and then stopped. The pitcher immediately threw to third instead of running at the runner. The runner immediately broke for home instead of settling for a rundown. He slid passed the catcher's tag and although it was correctly scored a fielder's choice, Benintendi was credited with the rbi. Later Benintendi was on first with another 1st and 3rd situation. The right handed  pitcher came to a stop in his stretch. While the pitcher was looking at the runner on 3rd, Benintendi broke for 2nd. The Yankees yelled at the pitcher who then turned to look at first and by the time he could throw to second base, Benintendi slid in safely. Rarely do you see a runner steal a base before the pitcher releases the ball.

Was it the game before he tried to steal home and almost made it?  Its the rarest base stealing feat.

AB starts the night with a ground rule double to right, if not for being ground ruled, he might have had his seventh triple.  Finishes the game 1-3 with a run scored.  Still hitting .299

It was the final game of the Philadelphia series on Tuesday night. It was actually a double steal that didn’t work. The catcher threw to 2nd base but the shortstop cut off the throw and easily got Benintendi at the plate. Although it would have been a nice steal, the rarest steal is probably a successful straight steal of home. By the way, the Phillies went on to win that game 3-1.

I turned into the game late and the clip I saw apparently didn't have the complete play.  All it showed was the 2nd baseman throwing home and nipping AB, now I understand it more completely.

Walk off single up the middle by Andrew in the bottom of the 10th.
Sox were down 4-1 / came back to tie it in the bottom of the 9th.

It was great!!! It's midnight - I won't sleep for a while after that.

3-6 for the game with an rbi (game winner as HL said), two singles and a double (30).  How hitting .302 with 66 rbis.

I believe this is second most on the team, behind only Martinez. A team which has an MLB-leading 9.5 game lead in their division. Impressive
