well he did have one homer that got rained out.  He leads the team in bases on ball, is second in doubles, leads in triples, ranks basically second or third in most team offensive categories.  Not a bad sophomore year.

Especially when you consider the teammates his numbers are compared to - Mookie Betts and J D Martinez / 2 guys you could flip a coin and give either league MVP.

AB is again 1-5 tonight with a walk and 3 runs scored, but his one hit was a 3 run homer (15) to give him 3 rbis (70) and is hitting .303 BoSox up 19-10 in the 8th and Andrew is unlikely to get another at bat.

Boston played a twin bill on Saturday and Benintendi played game 1 going 1/5. He did not start game 2 but struck out pinch hitting in the later innings. Boston won both games. Again today he is not starting as he has not had much success against today’s starter for Baltimore. I assume he might be a late inning replacement today after the Oriole starter leaves the game.

They should give him 2 singles for this  ;)

https://www.mlb.com/news/andrew-benintendi-hits-ball-twice-for-single/c-290531464

I am not sure but that the end of the bat contact didnt give the ball the english it needed to keep it away from the second baseman....it had a long of spin on it.

Not sure I've ever seen anything like that before. It was crazy looking in slow-mo.
In real time you couldn't tell it hit the bat twice.

Tonight AB will be facing the Rays and Ryne Stanek!  Rays already up 2-0 in the top of the 1st.  Now 3-0, doesnt look like the Bosox starter is going to get out of the first inning (only one out).  But he does only giving up 3 runs.

Now lets see how Ryne does.

Benintendi wound up 1-4, with a run scored.  His one hit was off Stanek, who worked only one inning and gave up two runs.  He threw 90 per cent 98 mph fastballs.

AB did get a hit off Jalen Beeks (now with TB as is Stanek) but that was the only hit Jalen  gave up against his old team in four innings, so he gets the win.

I'm a Red Sox fan, first - but I'm happy to see Beeks have a good outing.

AB is two for three tonight (double and single) with a run scored but the Bosox are losing 6-3 in the top of the eight.  AB will get one more at bat, due up fourth in the bottom half of the inning.  Currently hitting .301

AB 1-3 on the night, a 3 run double taking him up to 74 rbis.  Doublt puts Bosox up by four.  Still has at bats left on the night.

AB has been scuffling of late (what some call a slump) but last night in a losing cause Andy did manage to hit his 16th homer.  He now is batting .291 with 77 RBIs.

AB (in the midst of a small slump) got all the way down to .287 a couple of days ago, but after the past two days, including today when he went 3-5 hitting in the number three slot (two runs scored, one driven in), he is now back up to .292, with 16 hrs, 78 rbis.  The Bosox also came back from six runs down to take a 9-8 win and a sweep of the Braves.  AB had hits in all the run scoring innings including the game winning inning in the top of the ninth.

Power hasn’t been there since the all star break.  Only 2 HRs since the break.

But he’s still hitting, drawing walks, and driving in runs. That’s what good players do.

Razorback baseball getting some good pub tonight by these announcers.
Talking about AB being such an advanced hitter while at Arkansas, then talked about Kevin McReynolds - and said what a good baseball program Arkansas had.
Mentioned the Beeks trade earlier and that he was also a Razorback.

Our beisbol' program has always been stellar, Hoglady. I know you know that. But I get the feeling that we are about to turn into a dominating force in the SEC and nationally. That natty that was ours, except for a hiccup on defense last year in game II will be made up for and in a big way. The Diamond Hogs are about to explode. We fear no one now and I see us taking it out on LSU and others in the SEC for years to come. GO HOGS GO !

ad: so as not to derail this thread, there is something about Yankee Stadium that when Benintendi enters the House that Ruth Built II, Andrew "trips the light fantastic"...….Benny is the definition of a Yankee killer

Yeah I only got to see a few minutes of the game.  It just so happened that this was the few minutes I witnessed when these comments were made.  I rewound it about three times to listen, with a smile on my face...

I'm hoping it's the Dodgers and Red Sox in the series.  I live in LA and would love to go see a game if it is!

On base five times. Was surprised he did not get plunked for swinging away with a 3-0 count while up 10-1. Yanks probably filed that one away for later.

It's the Yanks/Red Sox.
After the Yanks win in Game 2 at Fenway - Judge came over to the Red Sox dugout to taunt the Sox with the song "New York, New York".

Loved the Tommy Lasorda years.

Drysdale and Koufax!  Nice!  Just a bit before me, but I remember the Garvey, Lopez, Penguin etc days... , and of course Lasorda.

*side note...   A few days ago, I took the fam to our local diner for breakfast.  One of the waiters there and I talk sports a little when we go in.  He came by our table and asked me if I'd noticed his buddy across the way?  It was nun other than Fernando Valenzuela!  He left just before us and was backing out when we walked out the door.  I waved at him and he smiled big back, pointed at my lil 4 yr old and gave me a thumbs up!

yeah, those were my memories too, against the dreaded yanks in the late 70's and then Gibson bringing us back to glory with his shot and limp.  Hershiser was a beast back then too.

Angel Hernandez is the Perry Costello of the big leagues. He was overturned 3 times by replay in game 3 at first base and very close to 4 times, I think the replay guys felt sorry for him and threw him a bone. He had another call overturned in the first 2 games of the series. He’s a terrible umpire.

Hernandez shouldn't be anywhere near a postseason game- unless it's in the stands as a spectator.

(But I thought the 3rd strike call against AB even though a little outside was too close to take)

True, but he had some more good plays in the game including a couple doubles and runs scored that helped get them there.  It was a great game all around.

The defensive plays made were outstanding by both teams.
The Red Sox lead was never safe.
