I was glad he was a Trojan I had gotten spoiled by Mike Newell"s success at UALR and Wimp brought us back.

It all worked out well for Fish.
Maybe he wouldn't have become the player he was or the leader he was.
A lot was expected of him at UALR - all that playing time as a freshman and sophomore helped him develop.
When you end up drafted by the Lakers, become the started point guard and win multiple NBA championships - you made the right college decision.

A huge miss by Nolan.  But, it worked out very well for Fisher and he probably got better coaching at UALR than what he would have got under Nolans staff.

Who knows maybe he replaces Corey Beck as my all-time favorite Hog basketball player!?

Me and my buddy at work were talking a few weeks back about how crazy it is the number of NBA titles that came from Conway/Little Rock in Fisher and Pippen.

There’s a pretty good chance he would probably be on our coaching staff right now. Of course I could be dead wrong on that, but it definitely seems possible

I graduated from Parkview in 91, a year before Derek Fisher. For some reason Nolan would not recruit Little Rock guys, epecially Parkview guys. Maybe Nolan and Coach Rip didnt get along. But we had some good teams at Parkview and none of those players ended up at Arkansas. Wes Flanigan ended up at Auburn.
