No 29 would be about right because he was a senior when we played them and I was a sophomore and I just turned 28.

Ahhh, you are correct sir. I was looking at the wrong Damian Williams. That's definitely him. He's listed as 6-1 200 lbs by the NFL.

Second degree battery and released a little over an hour after booking?  I would say there is not much to this.  Of course I don't know what happened to get him arrested but it could be an argument which ended with the police being called.  "He pushed me" would be sufficient to get a 2nd degree charge I believe.

Yep, he's a man.  Doesn't take much to get a battery charge against a man these days.  A woman on the other hand can slap, push, scratch, etc., without repercussions.

It's Damian. It's also his second arrest. The other was for a DUI.

So, how many of the Springdale 5 have been arrested now, 2?

I remember being in the tunnel of the 2008 Western Conference Finals at Staples Center and seeing Williams shake Kobe’s hand and chat up. Kid could have done anything and he ends up in a Washington County jail.

Second degree battery typically involves serious injury and/or use of a deadly weapon. Him getting out within an hour just means he has the cash to post bond.

There are plenty of guys that went to Arkansas and stayed and still get in trouble and others who used it as a stepping stone to great careers.  Who knows if Williams would have ended up in a different situation had he stayed.  The one thing I do know is if you went to UA, and are trying to make the most of it post playing career people are usually pulling for you and willing to help.   You leave and you are just a kid that left Arkansas.   Anyone from USC doing anything for him?

I'm not sure that's true. Why is Damien hanging out in NW Arkansas and not Southern California? Why does Malik Monk come back here?

The only example of a kid who avoids NW Arkansas that I recall is Mitch Mustain and that's because after 12 years there are still idiots blaming him for Nutt leaving. In Arizona nobody asks him about that stuff.

Nope...2nd degree battery is a felony. Either caused serious physical injury or injury with a deadly weapon...there are a other options but it's not a light charge.

If he is out before first appearance it means prosecutors authorized the release on citation to appear.  Otherwise someone just violated AROCP.

This makes me sad. I don't know his current situation but sometimes big success at a young age can lead to unfulfilled expectations/disappointment as an adult. It can be a lot to deal with. I hope the young man gets his life together.

There are lots of places in Arkansas that release prior to first appearance.

Well formed USC player isn’t going to get many clicks on NWA home page.

And technically correct

I’d venture a guess and say that just using his name would generate clicks. I realize it’s technically correct. It’s like saying, “former Hog recruit arrested”...even though he never signed with Arkansas. Just gets old.

Arkansas Rules of Criminal Procedure 5:2(c). Proscecutor can authorize a citation release prior to...otherwise if it is a felony they are supposed to be held without that authorization.

There are people who will beat a woman and those who won’t.  I guess we know which category you fall in.  The false report is so rare it’s not worth bringing it up.

They come back because that is where their family is?  NWA is way cheaper to live than Southern California?  I don't think it can be disputed they would get more breaks, better opportunities, etc. if Williams finished his career at UA and Monk didn't pull what he did.
