I am surprised that Belichick would want to have mediocrity near the Patriots.

Normally, someone who is system-focused and who has tunnel vision to the goal of success does not want failure cluttering up and hindering the environment of success.

Let me see now.... how many ďmediocre ď millions of dollars did BB get from his relationship with Arkansas?    Yeah....  thatís pretty mediocre.....   what have you accomplished in the accumulation of funds for your family and loved ones?   Iím guessing from your chest thumping that youíve topped BB...

Beliema wouldn't be good at what I do (in-home sales).  In-home one-call close sales requires a complete mastery of the entire sales process.  You either sell or you don't eat.

It is an entirely different ball game then getting paid millions by a University for sub-par work and sub-par results.

Belichick has made a living off finding diamonds in the rough, developing them, winning championships with them and then trading them off for more opportunities to find diamonds in the rough.  Whats he gonna do with Bert?

CBB isnít a terrible coach like folks want to believe. He failed miserably here for a number of reasons. He made plenty of mistakes that lead to his firing. But the patriots donít mess around with terrible coaches.

Good for him.

If it were me? A baby, young hot wife, and a buyout that would set my family up for life? ...I'm not sure I would've gone back to work.

Even though he couldn't get it done here, he's clearly still hungry.

I wish him & his family the best of luck.

My knee jerk reaction was "he's trying to rebuild his brand, to get a sports media gig"... but then I remembered HDN & Gene Chizik.

LOL Bret doesn't have to win anywhere else, if he wants to be pundit on Fox Sports.

Heís in sales of course he lies. One of the first things they need to do is make the customer feel comfortable. Half the time that requires a lie. Then along the way they lie about other stuff.

Just imagine if you had one in-home sales presentation, could bring your prospect to your business location to show it off, could call them and text/email them many times, but so could 10 to 30 other competitors, and you had to wait 6 months to a year/two years for them to make a decision? That's a coach on the recruiting trail. You have to not only be good at sales but you have to effectively re-sell your program every time you have contact with your prospect because that is exactly what your competition is doing.

I would suggest that they might come closer to being good at what you do, than you would at doing what they do. They not only have to sell their product repeatedly but build relationships in the process with their prospects over an extended period of time. I'm sure that they wish at times that they had one single in-home with a prospect and his family and could have the kid sign on the spot.

Sometimes the best thing for a successful person is to taste failure. It can make you desire success again. I do think he will be back as an HC at a CFB school. I don't think the NFL will give him the "mentor" part of his desire.

He failed here at recruiting miserably......CCM is showing him how to work.

Bielema's recruiting was a failure?  I thought the message that was repeated here ad nauseam was that he was building a solid foundation?  Now the word is he didn't?

He failed at plenty of stuff here, but that's a hot take to say he failed at recruiting when our class rankings under him were higher than our normal average.

Solid foundation?

No. He promised a deep redshirt program that never materialized ...he started a Fr on the oline try had no business being thrown into an SEC game.

He failed to maintain a quality staff as well.....it's hard to build a foundation w a lack of coaching stability and a lack of quality redshirts

....Or maybe I'm missing what 'foundation' means.

It seems to me  like BB was way overpaid, never should have been given a contract extension with a big increase and such favorable, for him, buyout, and should have been replaced much earlier.  However, if there is any blame, it is not BB nor Jeff Long (not that ever approved of much of anything Jeff Long did).  It is all on the UofA for approving it.  However, the UofA and the foundation has lots of money so if they wish to give away an extra $20 million, I guess that's no big deal.

Bielema should never...ever...be the head coach anywhere again.  I think he could be a good coach as an assistant with someone competent above him telling him what to do. Some guys are just better assistants.  Who knows, he might become a great assistant.

Honestly, Im sure he could sell more vacuum cleaners than you do.

I have never sold vacuum cleaners.

The following is what I have sold in-homes.

Whole house water filtration systems
Custom built spas (for patios and decks)
Leaf protection system guttering
Walk-in tubs and walk-in showers (those 2 products I currently sell)

Bielema could possibly sell vacuum cleaners.  It would be right up his ally because they both suck.  :)

You're saying it's easier to sell a 17/18-year-old kid on where to spend the next 3-4 years of his life and why your football program is the best fit for him than it is to sell an 80-year-old blue hair a walk-in tub?

The following is a list of correct answers:

No.

I don't think I mentioned anything about his recruiting prowess. Since you brought it up do you care to show the numbers that make your statement correct?

I'm not defending CBB. I am simply challenging someone who is complaining about a past coach and overhyping the new coach before we have played one game.

By the way our 2018 class was #49. CCM has had a lot of good athletes on campus - how about we let him sign a few before we crown him king? Give the guy a chance to prove himself before you place him on that pedestal that most likely had CBB there until December 2017.  ;)

Good chart.

Averages:

Bielema- 25.2

Petrino - 26.8

Nutt - 31.4

But as I recall, Petrino had more attrition from those recruiting classes than the other two. He won more overall, which speaks to his strength of offensive scheming, but what might he have done with a really good DC that he allowed to run and scheme his own defense? What could have been?

It's also fair to say that even though Petrino didn't recruit as highly ranked players as Bret, he found the better players.

It's also fair to say that even though Petrino didn't recruit as highly ranked players as Bret, he found the better players.

As I said, superior offensive scheming. He made more out of what he had to work with. No argument there.

Trey Flower, Deatrich Wise, Philon, Tevin Mitchell, Jerrico Nelson, Jerry Franklin, Alvin Bailey, Knile Davis, none of them exactly blew up the recruiting rankings but were all good players that Petrino recruited.

Point is, Petrino was a better evaluator of talent, thus a better recruiter than Bielema.

Dude was worse than Jack Crowe and John L Smith..He's worse than guys like you want to believe. What is BB coaching for the Pats? I mean is he in charge of a group of players for the Patriots?

The patriots don't screw around.  You're just blind with dumb hatred.
