Joe Burrow

Any interest in bringing in a graduate transfer at QB? Seems that lots of schools will be showing interest.

makes sense. Morris has familiarity with him.

I would have expected Nebraska as a lock for him.

Kelly Bryant more likely

He still thinks he is the starter at Clemson for his final season.

Possible that’s not the case.

Burrow having two years of eligibility AND him having already graduated (so he would be immediately able to play) makes this former top 10 Dual Threat 4* QB a very intriguing transfer.

Me too. Dad played there and coached there plus not a QB on campus having thrown a pass in a game.

Is he good, though?  Or did he play for a top program so we think he's good?

Some Ohio State fans seem surprised he wasn’t named the starter

playing behind JT Barrett for three years he only saw mop up duty. An injured hand in fall camp allowed Haskins to pass him by as backup last season. Burrow played well when he mopped up games. That is what it is. He has the measurables and can run although not what you would call a true dual threat. I'm curious to see where he goes and anxious to see how he plays next year. I hope he does well. Curious that LSU and Cincinnati have been granted permission to talk to him. Cincinnati is on the Buckeyes schedule in 2019 which would be Burrows senior year. Urban didn't block any team it appears.

Adrian Martinez had a breakout spring camp for Nebraska, and Scott Frost seems enamored with him.

Agree, would be a very good get if Hogs are even in the running.  I'd sell him on immediately starting and show every Deshaun Watson video I could.  Only bring him in though if you are sure he can start from day 1 and significantly increase chances of winning vs the other QBs already on campus.  We don't need no Ricky Towns

Yeah, this guy is a legit QB , he's just buried. Smart kid, too. I agree we should Watson pitch the crap out of him.

If he came to Arkansas, he'd be the best on campus for that offense.

A conversation with big Ed should send him looking elsewhere

Definitely, and their OC is a joke as well.  He's not going to get any kind of QB development there and you never know when the Ed O experiment is going to end.

Arkansas is mentioned as a possible destination.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2018/05/93046/a-look-at-12-potential-destinations-for-transferring-ohio-state-quarterback-joe-burrow

Yes please! Would be a huge get for us! Smoothen the transition with Chad Morris spread offense and give CM another year to groom a long term QB.

Please make this happen, Coach Morris! WPS!

Another mention of possible Arkansas involvment...

https://campussports.net/2018/05/14/joe-burrow-transfer-news-ex-ohio-state-qb-makes-2-official-visits/

The article says, "Arizona State, Arkansas, and Wyoming are also teams that could reportedly be in the mix."

I hope so. What a huge add this would be for this season.

I wouldn't take much stock from the article given this reporting:

"If he believes Burrow could become LSU’s starter, he could easily put in a good word"

Wow, that is really insightful stuff there .... put in a good word indeed.

Yeah I hear ya. This isn't USA Today reporting on this, but I'm just glad a couple different sources are mentioning the possibility of Arkansas being in the mix.

LRRandy, how similar is the Buckeye offense to what Arkansas' will be running under CM? I would bet that Burrow would probably be ahead of Storey and Kelley in talent, but after Storey and Kelley had a spring in the offense, my question is could Burrow beat those two out with only about 3 months (with way less practice reps) to learn the offense?

They ran a lot of zone read, RPO's with Barrett, probably fairly similar.

Ok. So then really even though it's not the exact same he could have the leg up since he has run the zone read/RPO/HUNH concepts so much more than Store/Kelley. Man, a former 4 star with quite a bit of experience in a similar offense could make us a bear to deal with next season. I hope they get this kid in on a visit.

Fun fact Urban tried to hire Chad Morris from Clemson. After Clemson made Morris the highest paid OC. Ohio State moved on to Tom Herman.

More ironically according to our new AD they would also have add Morris higher or atleast as high as Herman on there wish list. However, SMU jumped on him sooner.

Just an interesting tidbits considering how well thought of Herman was coming out of Houston

My last read for @theadvocatebr | We obtained the release #LSU received from Ohio State for QB Joe Burrow.

Why’d they need a release at all? That’ll be a topic for discussion in Destin at SEC spring meetings.

FOIA:
Quote
“In accordance with NCAA Bylaw 13.1.1.3, this letter shall serve as permission for staff members of the following institutions to contact Joe Burrow regarding a possible transfer to your institution and participating on your football team.”

Listed were two names: Cincinnati and LSU.

The flirtation with and ultimate signing of Burrow to LSU’s football team has sent the Tigers' fan base into a frenzy and has some asking a relevant question: Why did LSU need to obtain permission to speak with, and later host on a visit, a transferring football player who graduated in three years from his previous school?

That’s a primary topic on the agenda at the Southeastern Conference meetings beginning Monday in Destin, Florida.

“Transfers issues,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in an interview last month, “those will be front and center.”

New: Ed Orgeron opened up on Ohio State QB transfer Joe Burrow + what it means for #LSU's QB room.

As of today, Orgeron said no QB has talked to him about transferring out. His thoughts there and more. https://247sports.com/college/lsu/Article/Ed-Orgeron-Joe-Burrow-will-LSU-QBs-transfer-out-2018-season-118611633

Doesn't matter. LSU still won't be any good at QB. It's where they go to die.
