Tennessee extends AD Phillip Fulmer's contract through 2021

67-year-old Fulmer will earn $900,000 per year as part of the new deal, according to 247 Sports. He had been earning $575,000 since stepping into the job.

"Phillip has been a great partner over the last four months and I commend him for the work he has done with our student-athletes, coaches and staff," Tennessee chancellor Beverly Davenport said. "Phillip has been connected to the University of Tennessee and its athletics program for more than 40 years and he understands the expectations we have for our athletics department.
"He is surrounded by a very knowledgeable staff that is deeply committed to the success of our student-athletes. I look forward to our continued partnership."

Prior to becoming AD, Fulmer was serving as a special assistant to Davenport. After Currie's mishandling of the coaching search resulted in Tennessee being turned down by several candidates, Fulmer ultimately hired Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
