Pac 12 might only get 2 or maybe even 1 bid and that would be huge for the sec

Pac-12 is trash this year. First time for as long as I've been keeping up that a mid-tier conference (AAC) had a higher RPI than one of the P6's. It is a significant gap between 6 & 7 as well. The WCC isn't far behind the Pac-12 this year.

Bracket Matrix has Arkansas as the 8th team out.

Arkansas is a 12-seed in the First Four

A W tomorrow would go a very very long way to us sneaking in.
Confidence going into another winnable road game followed by a home game against a high NET ranked team.

We wonít have to sneak in. Itís not a strong field this year. Weíre right on time.

I agree. Palm already has us in and Lenardi has us in the next four out. Plenty of time to pile up wins and we have done fairly well lately in the SEC tournament.

Jerry Palm's Bracketology Bubble Watch:

Quote
Arkansas 65, South Carolina 77: Just when you think Arkansas has things figured out, they take another loss like this.  It's not that South Carolina is a bad team, especially at home, but these are the kinds of games bubble teams need to find a way to win.

Florida 61, Tennessee 73: With this loss, the Gators drop to 12-11 overall and will be dropped from the bubble until they can get their record back up a bit.  Florida is 1-9 vs quadrant 1 opponents. That pretty much screams NIT.

Just filed the Tuesday bracket. Holding my nose on one team in particular.

SEC with seven teams in.  Lunardi likes Florida more than most having them second out.

More trouble on the bubble ... Butler loses at St. John's.  Arkansas loses at Missouri. Texas lost at home to K-State, dropping the Horns to 14-11. Ugh.

Hilarious how bad the bubble is this year.  We are still in it! ;D

St J and K St are pretty good teams.  Shorthanded Mizzou is bad.  Little bit of a difference in the losses.

Behind the bracket: When losing gets overlooked - via @ESPN App. Feeling pretty strongly about this.

Quote
Oklahoma lost again Monday night. It was the Sooners' fifth straight defeat and seventh in their past nine games.

Overall, Oklahoma is 4-9 since the calendar turned to 2019 and just 3-9 in the Big 12. Realistically, the Sooners figure to be favored in no more than two or three of their remaining regular-season games.

Yet here they are, still appearing in most bracket projections, same as a year ago despite a similar collapse down the stretch...

The point is that losing doesn't matter enough in the NCAA selection process. More specifically, consistent losing is now consistently overlooked.

One thing to remember when it comes to bracketing folks, the rules say, quite clearly in fact, that there must be 68 teams in the tourney, as painful as that might be this year, there will be a few undeserving teams simply to satisfy this rule.

And how many of those lower seeds are Auto seeds from smaller conferences championships ?

and what if some crappy team like Missouri got hot and lucky and won the SEC tourney.. that knocks out a more deserving team from the SEC more than likely..

So it means home field advantage in the NIT.
I'll be sure to get those tickets on stub hub 🤔

Iím amazed that most experts have Arkansas as a bubble team and many Hog fans have given up. How about we support the team?  Weird thing for fans to do, I know.

You have to understand that it's Hogville.  Not only have the fans given up, but they've already fired the coach, although I can't find any reputable source that has Anderson's seat even warm, much less hot.  Maybe they'll get their wish, and it  will happen some day.  I have no idea.  In the meantime I'm going to root for a win tomorrow.

Weak crop of bubble teams

Quote
Clemson, Arkansas last two teams in
Clemson and Arkansas are one-hit wonders. The Tigers, which lost this week at Miami, and the Razorbacks, who have a couple of bad losses, are the last two teams in the bracket.

And if we wanted to kick them out, which teams do you replace them with?  Georgetown? The Hoyas have a nice win or two, but a very soft schedule and a couple of bad losses. Butler? Its best win is vs. Mississippi at home, of course, because the Bulldogs struggle to win anywhere else.

Utah State? The Aggies have a nice NET rating, but not much to back it up. Their best win is St. Mary's.

UNC Greensboro or Furman? The Southern Conference, led by Wofford, has a few decent teams in it, but only Furman has an eye-catching win. The Paladins beat defending champion Villanova on the road. Their overall schedule is very soft though. Same for UNCG, which does not have a bad loss, but also doesn't have a significant win.

In the SEC, all the talk was about the Tennessee-Kentucky game, but a couple of bubble teams really hurt themselves with a tough losses (sic).

Quote
Arkansas has now lost three in a row to drop to 14-11 on the season after falling 77-67 to Mississippi State. They have not done nearly enough to get into the field with a record that weak. Historically speaking, only one team has, and that team (Georgia, 2001) played one the most difficult schedules I have seen.

Alabama was whooped up on by Florida in a critical game for the Crimson Tide, 71-53. One of these teams looked like a tournament team and it wasn't Alabama. The Gators, on the other hand, have revived their slim tournament prospects.
