Houston Open
« on: March 31, 2018, 08:21:43 pm »

We just got home from walking a typical, ho hum Mickelson even par round.  Three balls hit in the water, a triple bogey, a double bogey, a chip in, six birdies...no problem, 72.

He has hit at least five balls in the water and has at least two triples and is five under.  Putted both conventional and with the claw.  I felt like I was watching a science experiment...or at times a car wreck.

We didn't see much of anyone else because Phil's group ( Westwood and Lashley) was the first out at 9:00 this morning.  We went to the driving range about 8:00 and by the time the Mickelson group finished we had been walking for six straight hours.

I'm rooting for Poulter, too, but he's not exactly an established closer.  With Hossler and him leading I think there is a good chance that someone comes from well back to win.

Especially since the winner gets in the Masters, both will be feeling the pressure to win.

I know the top 50 ranked players get an invite but since Poulter is ranked 51 he has to win to get into the field.  Interesting that they count winning the tourament as a ticket to get in but not the world rankings after this tournament.

I was there at Houston Open on 18th, and saw Phil sunk in the water twice.  Then little later me and my boy were at 17th and players couldn't keep ball in play.  One group had all of their balls out of bounds, and Rodgers from next group hit his ball out of bounds and hit guy in stomach.  Spectator took it like a champ and joked about it.

Poulter just drained one to force a playoff on 18.

That he did.  Hossler's hit a couple of flares off to the right.

I loved Poulter's immediate reaction upon sinking the final putt, a brief rush of unbridled emotion then put the face back on and shook hands.  Neat.

Poulter sucks, just thought I'd set the record straight.  8) Now we won't get to see Beau's Mom at Augusta.

OK, you dicks made me google her!  I spent the first 15 years of my life going through Ola on my way to Casa to visit grandparents and trust me, she's more than a 6 for Ola.

Jog my memory, who was the golfer who got drunk in Hawaii and claimed he got his butt whipped and robbed by thugs but turned out to be a story??
