2018 season
« on: March 26, 2018, 08:49:49 am »

The teams and talent next year in college basketball are going to be insane.... gonna be alot of very good teams that are returning alot and some very good teams that are bringing in alot. Villanova could potentially return all 5. Kentucky might return some NBA prospects with their incoming studs. And the list goes on and on....

good chance.. if 2 guys dont return
Auburn, Tennessee, and A&Mpossibly return everyone. LSU recruiting class is insane
Michigan will return 4/5 starters
Duke will be insanely tough next year with the forwards they are bringing in.

May not matter regarding Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and LSU.

It would be nice to see an investigation launched.

There may not be anything there to investigate.

None of the Yahoo Sports articles have implicated them.

May be just as the following stated in an article.

Say this about Ben Howland, the man knows how to recruit.

They had nearly that talent this year and were in the NIT...

Darius Garland will be one of the best PGs in the country. If they land these other two elite freshmen then they will be top 5 in the SEC

I just have seen Drew snatch defeat from the jaws of victory too often to fear any team he coaches.

The SEC will be strong again for sure. But I think we will surprise people and be in the top half of the SEC at least.

One thing I think will be a difference maker; attitude. I think the leaders on next year's team will be less prone to ruts in scoring and leadership because of the differences in their game. I often felt like JB, DM, and AB were just fireless when their game wasn't going for them. Their attitude visibly let them down in many games. I saw a lot of frustration sometimes. Not saying it won't happen with DH or DG but I think their game is a little more resilient and not just rhythm shooting and forced 1 on 1 ball.

Now how this resilient leadership could work with all the inexperience next year is something that remains to be seen. But if it works and the young talent shows it's ready, we definitely have the pieces to be a good team again next season.

let me get this straight. the expectations for this past season were low, even though we had 6 seniors, two of which tested the nba & came back.
as the season rolled on, and the emergence of gafford, we placed 6th in the sec tournament seedings, and got beat by tenn in the semi's
went to ncaa tournament and got beat by 20 in the first round.

all we have heard is this is Anderson's best recruiting class, now with gafford returning, I am witnessing people moving the bar to this is an NIT team.

IN YEAR 8.

so when do we get out of mediocrity.

I am actually hoping this team plays better defense, with more all around effort, and more together. not individuals.

if that happens then this should be a better team than most people think.

Defense is key.  The guard play should be better simply based on the players coming in.  Get the inside game working and they have a chance to be as good as this last team...and that's WITH the Freshman talent in the lineup.  Sure there will be growing pains, but overall I think they may be able to flip the switch.

All of that is a complete mystery. I still say, even with Gafford coming back, we struggle to win 20 games.

You know how hard it is to make the tourney every year?  It's not easy.  I loved Macon and Barford but they are under-sized two guards who had to play point guard roles.  We have athletic talent coming in next year that are not undersized AND they will be playing their natural positions.

It takes a good amount of failure for us to miss whether its poor scheduling, poor play or roster mismanagement.  Schedule correctly to manipulate the resume and go .500 in the SEC and we will at least be in the conversation every season.

1 out of 3 teams from multi bid leagues get in as an at large.  9 conferences got at least 2 teams in the 2018 tourney.  111 members in those conferences and 36 at large bids.  When you add in the 9 auto bids, 45 out of 111 made the NCAAT.

according to you, they will not make the ncaa next year, since it is so hard. that will not be 4 in 5 years.

plus, just making it should not be the goal.

so, get over yourself

you are wrong. I have posted multiple times, with gafford coming back, next year's team has a chance to be a better TEAM than this year.

i hope they play hard, & together.  if the do, they can be better than most think

While it was an up and down year, the team was still competitive and won some
Games.

And they made it to the tourney.

They were a fun group to watch.
