Detroit - Who's going and how?
« on: March 11, 2018, 06:50:18 pm »

I'm in Fayetteville and pondering the drive or a flight from Dallas (roughly $78 there $100 back via Skiplagged) or Kansas City ($190 plus a carry on fee round trip via Spirit).  Anyone else going and how?  Hotel or AirBNB recommendation?

We now live in northern Indiana, only 2hrs and 30mins to Detroit. Pumped that we can go! Only downside is tons of Purdue family that will be going with us. Could be an interesting Sunday for my crew if all goes well! Haven't made a hog game since @ Dayton a few years ago. Hope we don't start out like we did in that one, although it turned out to be a great game, we were down 20 before we got in our seats. Can't wait for the football game at Notre Dame too.

Weíll probably go on Sunday if we beat Butler. Unfortunately Iíve got meetings on Friday morning that I canít move.

Unfortunately the direct flight from Little Rock isnít available on Saturday.

I'm an hour north of Detroit and bringing the family. If anyone needs any advice on where to stay, etc., let me know.

Greektown Casino/Hotel is a good option (not sure on cost though). You can walk to the arena.

My cousin and I are going!  This will be my first NCAA tournament to attend!  Going to make the drive on Thursday and book hotel/airbnb for Thurs & Friday night and extend stay though Saturday if we win (Greektown looks to be booked up but thanks for the tip bighog).  Popcornhog I still would love to buy you a beer and a bite as a thank you for you buying me a NIT ticket back in 2014 (i sat with you on the floor seats) so if you do make it in town for the Sunday game - let's meet at a local pub or the concessions stands at minimum.  WPS and cheers to dk44 getting some family bragging rights come Sunday.

Now to google those dispensaries. . .

Bad draw location wise. Too far to drive for most and not a very sexy destination to fly to (even though has interesting spots). We will be out numbered crowd wise unless Purdue hates Butler so much they join our cause.

Definitely a bad location draw.  Was rooting for Dallas or Wichita.  I doubt most Butler or Purdue fans will root for the out of state team - so I'll just have to be all the louder

Flying from Birmingham, AL Thursday night to Toledo, OH. Iíll figure out return plans Friday night depending on what happens Friday afternoon.

What do you guys in the know think is the best way to get tickets? Stubhub is a sure bet with baseline and corner lowers to Fridayís session going for about $100. Three years ago in Jacksonville, I got center court 15 rows up from a scalper for $100 after I bought some seats on Stubhub for $75. The location upgrade was well worth it.
