If it werenít for her obvious attempt to sound like a man, Beth Mowins is pretty good compared to a lot of the part-timers calling games during bowl season. Sheís gotten better as an announcer.

I guess so.

This is just horrible.

She is terrible. I had to turn the channel.

She made me turn off football. I can't forgive that.

Too many tear-jerking stories. Sometimes it seems as if ESPN confuses red-blooded American males for estrogen-oozing women looking for a reason to cry.

I hate it that guys bash women doing football games. (Including me.) But that doesn't change the fact I hate women doing football games.

This is an old one, but the money is ridiculous. The salaries, the endorsement deals, all of it. But I'll keep watching, mostly.

Yes.  This.

Also, Jeremy Schaap and his outside the lines.  I don't listen anymore but it seemed like every. single. episode. was about the bravery of some soul "coming out" in a sports locker room.

So tired of hearing about who is gay.

Itís great watching the replay of robin ventura charging the mound and Nolan kicking his butt.  Best part was he was not tossed out, but Ventura was.

Honestly, if Hogville is any indication, there are a lot of whiny, thin-skinned, hysterical men watching football.

Here's a pet peeve of mine: the term "break contain".  "You can't let Jalen Hurts break contain!"

And "get a blow".  "He had four carries in a row, so he's gonna go get a blow."

Hack sports journalists who present their asinine opinion as fact.

Sports journalists who fail to recognize it's time to retire and then become laughing stocks, or bitter.

I second this.  The Olympics especially have become almost unwatchable.

Others are:

Choreographed celebrations.  I would love to watch a modern day Dick Butkus run onto the field and clothesline some idiot or group of idiots leapfrogging each other or sitting under the goal post pretending to open a Christmas present.

Quarterbacks who can't execute an even slightly sophisticated passing game.  What coach who is worth a flip puts an alleged QB on the field who may be able to run but is incapable of running a passing attack above high school level?   There is a term for players who line up in the backfield but can't pass.   They are known as running backs.

Major League Baseball players who can't or won't square up and lay down a bunt.  I knew how to turn, slide my hand up the bat, and "catch" the ball with it when I was 12 or 13 years old.  The jabbing at it crap that we see so much today is ridiculous.

There are more, but that's a good start.

Agree, Suzie Kolbert (sp) voice is horrible. Beth Mowins is fine. Better than many others. But my main sports peeve is watching basketball and the players having different colored shoes on the same team.

I've often wondered about this.

I remember all of us getting the same shoes on the same day.  Thought it was the greatest thing in the world that the whole team would have the exact same shoe.
