and it looks like he has accepted and will be the next HC at Arkansas. I really had hoped he would turn us down and we'd go with Venables but doesn't look like that is going to work out. Gus was holding out for more time but all these "new" interviews with coaches like Morris must have convinced him we weren't bluffing on the deadline. Oh well, hope it works out and I will support him as long as he's the HC of the Hogs.

If Auburn wins Saturday, he is not leaving the plains.

 Heads would explode.

No way any competitive Coach walks away from a chance to play for all the marbles for a 2nd time. (3rd if you count his time as coordinator)

Actually feel like this makes it *more* likely. He's shown he will do it. Also his wife wants it more than anyone and his staff isn't too happy at Auburn either.

I could really care less if you believe or not but if you think the UofA was going to "wait around"  for the SECCG results to get Gus to say yea or nay, you had another thing coming. We would have moved on had he not agreed today. I would rather have Morris then to be strung along by Gus another day.

OK, so here is my concern. People are saying that Gus is leaving Auburn because he is not respected, that even the boosters are giving credit to the coordinators.

Ok, so I understand feeling disrespected, but shouldn't that be a YUGE red flag? Maybe it is not the boosters and fans being underhanded and petty, but being realistic. Maybe forcing Gus to turn play calling over to the OC is why they are in the SECCG and possibly the CFP.

Are we just swallowing that Auburn is too picky and Gus is awesome?

He is not my first choice, but I will support him and hope he does well if he comes. But this is a red flag for me.

Just like when Petrino came and the Louisville people on here said that he puts all his athletes on offense and doesn't recruit defense. All of the Arkansas people were like "yeah, sure, whatever"

I just am worried about 6-6 and 7-5 in perpetuity.

I'm not buying it, and I don't want Gus Mediocrity as our coach.

Two 8-5 and one 7-6 (close to having two) seasons with Auburn talent.

That means 6-6 or worse here.

so basically you are saying he accepted...however it will be kept hush hush till after the game...then after the game they will announce...thats pretty much the same scenario everyone has come up with...

If they don't announce tonight,,,as per your source, then its BS

You know, there are several games Saturday. Strangely enough, many of them feature desirable coaching candidates. To not be capable of waiting two more days to gauge whether your preferred candidate and possible plan B guys are interested or not tells me everything I need to know about you and your source.

All I can say is money talks. If he wins Saturday, 1) he hasnít signed a thing with us, and 2) we are at Auburnís mercy. They could offer the man $11M a year after the CFP and guess who is left high and dry without a coach in the middle of January. Thatís right, we are. Then what do we do? We made our bed then took a massive dump in it at that point. The game Saturday will decide everything. It doesnít get anymore black and white.

In game related news, Gus is saying Kerryon Johnson will be a "game time decision" to play and says he thinks he will play.

It may be a bluff, but with the 2nd and 3rd stringers hurt also, the other remaining rushers have 24 and 32 carries on the season with the 24 belonging to Eli Stove who is a 183 lb. WR.

You think the UGA defense doesn't know which shoulder Johnson is favoring? Even if the kid does play, he might not be able to be effective or finish the game.

If a win under those circumstances doesn't win the Barners over, what would it take? They will still blame him if they lose.

The ratings for that game in this state will be the highest since we last played in it.
