Agree.

Colton Jackson and Brian Wallace both look the part but for one reason or another don't play particulary well.

Jackson has flashes of athleticism but he over-commits.  It seems like he might close his eyes before contact because he ducks his head and gets swam (past tense for swim-moved?) or ripped.

Brian Wallace can be a mauler but he also has a tendency to pop straight up and block chest to chest.  He also gets beat off the edge with a speed rush.

Here is a gif of Wallace getting beat last year by the Aggies:

Both tackles got destroyed on that play, a good QB would step up in a pocket there and eithe rmake a throw, scramble or get rid of it, EXCEPT there was no pocket either.  4 guys destroyed our 5

Wrong! The TE has the clip that man. He was so far outside that Wallace couldnt get to him. Gibson is the one getting screwed in all of this.

Yeah. Must suck to walk on, earn a scholarship and work your way into the starting OL. Poor guy.

He's playing out of position. There's a reason he's a walk on guard.

It starts with the TE and Sprinkle should have done a better job.

However, watch Wallace's feet.  He doesn't gain any ground (get depth) on his initial step.  He actually pops up first then takes a bad kick step.

At worst, if the defender is going to run like that he needs to get his hand on his inside shoulder and run him out of the play.  Instead, he whiffs badly and watches Allen get demolished.

Here's my simple question on the "playing favorites" angle, for those of you advancing that argument.

Is it your position that Bielema is sitting in his office thinking, "You know, playing this player might get my quarterback injured and may even lose games that will cost me my job, but piss on it...I'm going to do it anyway."

That your position?
That was Houston Nutt.

You do know that's DeShun Hall right? He beats a lot of the best tackles off the edge with a speed rush. Not to mention Sprinkle did a poor job with his chip on that play.

I love the "then go coach" responses.  Here's my analogy.  I know little about pouring a foundation.  However, if I go watch several different guys do it and one guys pours a perfect, solid foundation 9 times out of 10 and another guy messes up 4 out of ten where the pad is not level, the concrete cracks, the ground underneath susbsides, etc, then I can make a judgment about the quality of the work even if I don't myself know how to fix Bielema's crumbling foundations.  Similarly, a doctor who saves 95% of the people on an operating table versus 60%...etc.  You can use past results measured against others to form reasonable opinions without technical knowledge.

Your analogy proves most of our points.

Yes, like you said, most every fan can tell that something is wrong just like you can make the judgement about the quality of the work from professionals pouring a foundation or how good a surgeon is based on using past results measured against others to form your opinion of how good of job they are doing.  This is completely fine and reasonable to do as fans.

You then proceeded to say that you can make a judgment whether the work is good or poor even if you yourself DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX the crumbling foundations or how to play doctor and save more life's.

That is exactly our point, most of us are completely fine with fans making the judgment on whether the coach is doing a good or poor job, but it is extremely annoying when some of you guys act like you know EXACTLY what is wrong and that you know HOW TO FIX the problem and exactly who should be starting when none of y'all have been at a single practice (unlike the coaches being at every practice).

Yes, this is a message board and it is completely okay to state your opinion (especially if you have some facts or data to back it up), but just do not act like you absolutely know better than the coaches and that you are right no matter what.

Here are a couple of poor examples of posting an opinion:

"Whatever. neither was a full scholarship player from the start like guys like Wallace,Merrick and Rodgers were. that's the point.Ty is not better than Brian Wallace in my opinion. no matter what they see in practice.practice is not a real game."

"Froholt was given that job last year.he did not earn it.they better realize playing favs will get them fired if it does work. and based on the first 2 games,it is not working.it's terrible."

Here is a good example of posting an opinion of what the problem may be:

"I'm trying to connect the dots here.

My theory is this. We have a NFL guy as our offensive line coach, and he has installed a fairly complex system of calls and assignments. That position group doesn't exist in isolation; they are hand-in-hand with what Enos wants to run, which I think is also pretty complex. The end result is that we have a complex offensive system with a limited amount of practice time in which to get reps. That results in less experienced and physically gifted players getting the nod over veterans, who for whatever reason can't or won't learn the calls and assignments. Even some of the starters aren't completely solid on it, which is why we look slow off the football.

Were I the A&M DC, I would do just what TCU and FAMU did; stack the box and bring pressure from everywhere, counting on our o-line to not be in sync and our QB still not trusting his receivers, who struggle to get separation, enough in the heat of a game to throw them open."

The underlying point is Gibson is better suited to play guard.

I'm assuming you make more money than a div 1 coach and that is why you haven't put your resume in to coach at Arkansas?

Yeah, I'm getting a little tired of posting "_____ is playing tackle out of necessity."  It was Skipper at LT last year.  Kirkland the year before that.  Now it's Gibson at RT.

Which he would be doing if Wallace was getting it done at tackle.. The issue isn't "is Clary better than Wallace?", It's "is Gibson better than Wallace at tackle?" and he obviously is or he wouldn't be starting there.

Last year was terrible,  for that reason; we ended up moving our serviceable RT to LT, because our other options were so bad there, and it still didn't save AA from a beating.

More than any other injury or player loss, losing Kirkland to the NFL a year early did more to disrupt our offensive line continuity than anything else in the Bielema era.

Why, why, why is Deon Stewart still returning kicks? How in the world is TJ Hammaonds not back there instead. It seems every week BB and Enos say, "we need to get TJ involved more, we need to get him touches...he's the most explosive player on the team", but then nothing.

I don't understand? If he's that explosive, get him the ball as much as possible.
It is because Deon Stewart is from Highland/Hardy/Cherokee Village wherein there are many folks from the upper midwest, so there's that.

Who knows....
