Mississippi State Pitching
« on: June 23, 2018, 12:00:46 pm »

If Mississippi State wins tonight, I assume we will get Konnor Pilkington on his normal rest Monday night. In the first game of our series in April, we touched him for five runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings. He's 3-6 with a 4.47 ERA this year. However, he did have a quality start against North Carolina earlier this week.

Ethan Small is going to get the start for the Bullies today, on his normal rest. The key is what affect getting smoked by that line drive on his pitching elbow yesterday will have. If he pitches deep today, he would likely be coming back on four days' rest in the "If" game Wednesday. The good news for State is that if Small isn't effective, JP France, Cole Gordon, and Zach Neff should all be ready to go out of their bullpen.

Game 2? Maybe Jacob Billingsley on three days' rest. He was not good yesterday, but he only threw 41 pitches. He got the win against us in the last game of our series, giving up four runs (three earned) over six innings of work.

I hope MSU wins tonight, but I really don't think they will. I believe OSU has all the momentum.

So, if Arkansas had lost, they would have played at 7 and MSU/OSU at 2. But since Arkansas won, their game is moved to the 7 slot. I wonder if playing the later time slot gives Arkansas an extra advantage?

By winning last night, the hogs get to rest until Monday.   Will the hogs be in the ballpark watching tonight or do they watch from a hotel?

You don't want to be confined to your hotel room for too long. I'd say they would need to get out.
