Georgia linebacker JJ Peterson picks Vols over Bama, Georgia

Quote
Four-star outside linebacker JJ Peterson of Colquitt County in Moultrie, Ga., picked Tennessee over Alabama and Georgia in a live announcement during the U.S. Army All-American Game on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1.5, 210-pound Peterson is the No. 2 rated outside linebacker in the nation, according to the 247 composite rankings. He also is the No. 8 player in Georgia and the No. 44 player in the nation.

Peterson played for former Hoover coach Rush Propst at Colquitt County.

Peterson is the highest rated 2018 commitment for new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt, who is still coaching Alabama's defense through Monday's CFP championship game.

Very big get for Pruitt. I've been very surprised at how well he's done thus far recruiting for UT while coaching at the dump school.

In-state, 3-star LB Matthew Flint flips from Tennessee to North Carolina

Quote
Madison County senior, three-star linebacker Matthew Flint has decommitted from Tennessee, pledged to North Carolina and will enroll for the spring semester, Tigers coach Scott Sharp confirmed this morning.

The 6-foot, 215-pound Flint, who committed to Tennessee in August, visited Chapel Hill over the weekend. He tweeted that his decision was due in part to the Volunteers' head coaching change. Jeremy Pruitt replaced Butch Jones in early December.

Tennessee receives position of need commitment from CB Brandon Davis

Quote
Davis rates as a 3-star prospect and ranks as the No. 72 prospect in Louisiana.

Davis is the 19th commitment in the Class of 2018 for the Vols with National Signing Day rapidly approaching on Feb. 7.

#New Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt: Give this staff a full year, and when you look at the rankings next year on National Signing Day, we’re gonna be right at the top.

I’d much rather be in the college football playoffs than have the top ranked recruiting class...... which is why Tennessee probably will never do that again....

Kristian Story will join Jeremy Pruitt in Knoxville, Tenn.

The 2020 athlete from Lanett committed to Tennessee

Quote
6-foot-2, 196-pound sophomore is currently ranked fourth among state of Alabama 2020 prospects.

Story is the first Vol commitment in the class of 2020.

Story, a 4-star prospect, could play on either side of the ball in college, likely at either wide receiver or defensive back.

As a sophomore, he threw for 3,286 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Panthers and ran for 765 yards and seven scores. He replaced his brother Tre, who is now at Richmond, at the quarterback position. His father, Clifford Story, is Lanett's head coach.

Kristian picked up his Tennessee offer in January. His other offers included Alabama, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State and Jacksonville State.

Tennessee picks up commitment from massive Alabama defensive tackle LeDarrius Cox

Quote
6-foot-4, 310-pound Cox fits perfectly into what Tennessee wants to do on the defensive side of the football. Coach Jeremy Pruitt is switching a 3-4 defense which requires a run-stopping defensive tackle.

The Mobile, Ala., native certainly has the size to lock down the middle of the defensive line. Finding a prospect with this sort of build was a point of emphasis for this staff.

Cox held offers Georgia, Nebraska and Ole Miss. His Georiga [sic] offer is pinned on his Twitter account...

Tennessee adds JUCO DL Darel Middleton

Quote
Middleton is an intriguing addition to the team. Taking a year and a half off from school might make cause some issues both on the field and classroom. EMCC, the same school featured in the first two seasons of Last Chance U on Netflix...
