They're all tools.  Sometimes you need a screwdriver. Sometimes you need a hammer.  The trick is knowing how and when to use the tools at your disposal.

Need to add a "Both" option on the poll. If you're only using one or the other, you're missing out.

I like both. If I've only got the option to use one or the other I'm going free weights every time, but both are great to have.

Agreed.  There are 2 free weight exercises I can't do w/ good form due to an injury in my left shoulder and lower back pain.  The machines allow me to do these 2 exercises w/out the pain.

Both. My main reason is I can't do any machines that keep the shoulders moving together as I have had so many injuries to one shoulder it isn't aligned like the other one and it makes my bursitis flare up to do things like bench press or any machine that requires the same movement.
