National signing day is just around the corner on Feb. 6. That day, a number of the nation’s top football recruits will announce their college destinations, and 18 ESPN 300 prospects are scheduled to do so on ESPNU.

Below (at the link) is the full schedule of announcements on ESPNU

Denver Kirkland, Al Golden meet as Miami tries to clear the air

Quote
University of Miami had pulled a scholarship offer from one of its top local football targets Denver Kirkland, the U was taking some pretty hard hits around the blog world.

UM is now looking to perhaps resolve the matter, or, if nothing else, offer the Kirkland family an apology. UM coaches met with the family of Kirkland this afternoon at 3 in Coral Gables.

Kirkland was obviously upset Thursday night when UM assistant coach Michael Barrow offered Kirkland an ultimatum, of sorts, asking him if he was willing to commit on the spot following a celebration of his team, Miami Booker T. Washington's, Florida Class 4A state championship.

Kirkland said he wanted to wait until National Signing Day, and so Barrow told him the program would be going in a different direction.

On Friday the 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive lineman said he was down to Florida State and Arkansas as his two finalists. He was in Fayetteville last weekend for his final visit.

Kirkland was taking hits of his own from Miami fans through his Twitter account, and posted this "tweet" on Friday:

Denver Kirkland @15HARLEM_BOSKI

It's crazy now The U Fans Dising me Now SMH why they mad with me Ian Do nothing to start this wow [sic]

http://247sports.com/Article/Drama-filled-weekend-in-SEC-recruiting-114646

Five-star defensive end Chris Jones (Houston, Miss.) continues to be a tug-of-war between in-state rivals Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Late Friday night and early Saturday, reliable sources indicated to 247Sports and multiple other outlets that Jones was in Oxford, Miss., for an unofficial visit.

Jones then denied he was in Oxford via text message to multiple reporters.

Jones then met with the Mississippi State coaching staff and went to Starkville for an unofficial, attending the Bulldogs’ basketball game. After the game, he went on the record again saying he was heading back to Houston, Miss.

Then, late Saturday night, Kipp Adams of ESPN.com reported Jones was back in Oxford...

Not to be outdone, five-star linebacker Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala.), who did not take a scheduled official visit to San Diego State, was at Auburn, then abruptly left and ended up at Alabama in the evening, along with four-star Tide running back target and lean Alvin Kamara.

There were plenty of rumors as to why Foster left Auburn suddenly (no confirmation on any of it), but most agreed it was not a good sign for the Tigers, who looked to be in great shape to re-land their former commit.

Foster is scheduled to announce his decision on Monday...

It looks like Alabama could be in great position to close with a bang and round out the nation’s top overall class. Five-star A’Shawn Robinson, who has been committed to Texas, now has the Crimson Tide on top. Then, you have the Foster situation that could end up going Alabama’s way. The Tide is involved with several other highly-regarded prospects that could end up in Tuscaloosa as well.

State's Chad Bumphis on Twitter: 'Recruits ... don't go with the money!'

Former Mississippi State wide receiver Chad Bumphis caused a bit of an uproar Tuesday when he made some insinuations about what he deemed questionable recruiting tactics used by a certain school against whom his team has a, shall we say, less-than-cordial rivalry a times.

Bumphis, a Tupelo native who recently completed his eligibility with the Bulldogs and is preparing for the NFL draft, had this to say on the eve of national signing day:

chad bumphis @ImSo_BalisMade1
With NSD near, recruits listen. DON'T go with the money! After its gone ur stuck at a place you probably don't even like for 3-5 years!

chad bumphis @ImSo_BalisMade1
Funny. I tweet that and the only people offended are my sweet little rebel followers!! Guilty much??? Possibly. Lol

4-star WR Fred Ross flips commitment from Oklahoma State to Mississippi State, will sign with MSU tomorrow

Quote
The news was first reported by Emily Gagnon of Tyler, Texas TV station KYTX, and then confirmed by Ross' head coach to Paul Jones.

This is huge news for Mississippi State's 2013 football recruiting class, as Ross comes in as one of the top talents in this class. He also will take the place of EMCC wide receiver Corey Smith, who flipped his commitment to Ohio State last week.

In the SEC West (according to Rivals and including Alex Collins)
Alabama: 11 4 stars and 3 5 stars
LSU: 17/2
Ole Miss: 9/3
Texas A&M: 15/0
Auburn: 8/2
MSU: 2/1
Arkansas: 4/0

with Collins possibly switching we might wind up last in the recruiting rankings in the SEC. can Bielema really outcoach Saban, Sumlin, Miles, Gus, and Freeze to a level to make up the massive disparity in high level talent or do we chalk this up as a learning and rushed year and hope for improvements when they have a full season?
