Sabin ...Remembering Jeremy Pruitt, the elementary P.E. teacher

Quote
Inside Jordan-Hare Stadium last Saturday, Presley Hawkins peered over to the Tennessee sideline and spotted one of her former grade school teachers.

The same man who used to allow her to tumble on the playground at Wills Valley Elementary in Fort Payne was now front and center, leading the Volunteers to an upset victory over her Auburn Tigers. How strange was it to see Jeremy Pruitt in this moment after all these years, Hawkins thought.

"Kind of bittersweet," Hawkins said. "But it was also cool -- just because of where he came from and how he worked his way all the way up."

Barely 13 years before he was named the head coach at Tennessee -- one of the SEC's most storied programs -- Pruitt taught physical education to children in the seat of DeKalb County...

Most first-year head coaches seek advice from their mentors, but the nature of the Third Saturday in October means #Vols’ Jeremy Pruitt never asks Alabama’s Nick Saban for help: http://bit.ly/2OB4GPf

Quote
Every first-year head coach spends that season dealing with problems that never came across their desk as an assistant coach.

Those most prepared for the role still face those challenges. They’re unavoidable. And the first thing most first-year head coaches do in those situations is simple. They call their mentors and solicit advice.

It would make all the sense in the world for Jeremy Pruitt to call Nick Saban when some those situations [sic] arise.

Pruitt insists he hasn’t done that, though, because Pruitt is coaching the Tennessee Volunteers and Saban is coaching Third Saturday in October rival Alabama.

It’s a potentially awkward situation, and Pruitt said he avoids it by not calling his mentor and putting him in that situation.

Pruitt said he has no problem seeking advice from Gene Stallings —

Cowboys need to draft Tua when he comes out, no if ands or buts.

I’d love to see Bana score 100. At this rate, it could happen.

Knowing Nick he's enraged that the Tide just missed being the first team in SEC history to score at least 60 points during three SEC games. However, with double punishment reps they'll still likely get it before the season's over.

Nah, he actually took it easy on his buddy Pruitt.  Did nothing to try to score in the fourth quarter.
