In my opinion, only surpassed by the migration north of Jackson Wyoming during early October.

Yeah, I've been through there in October. It's crazy beautiful.

Fort Collins is on the western edge of the high plains just like Denver.  So it's as flat as the Arkansas delta to the east without Crowley's Ridge.  But also like Denver, it's in the shadow of the Front Range of the Rockies. Fourteen thousand foot Long's Peak dominates the western skyline, so anyone traveling to the game will get an eyeful of the mountains from Denver to Fort Collins and back.

Telluride and Aspen are beautiful places, but they are far from Fort Collins.  You can drive from Fayetteville to Omaha faster than you can drive from Fort Collins to Telluride.  The good news is that Rocky Mountain National Park is a beautiful hour and a half drive.  Estes Park is only an hour.  The aspens will have begun to turn by Sept. 8, and snows will have yet to close Trail Ridge and Old Fall River Roads.  This is an ideal time to get up to 12,000 feet and see mountain goats, marmots, etc., and elk and mule deer in the valleys.  If you like Stephen King, book the Red Rum at the Stanley Hotel.

I think I just planned my trip.

Where is the best place to park around Bud Walton if you don't have a parking pass?  Free or paid.
Thanks!

“INTERESTING” - My brother-in-law moved from west of Denver to Ft. Collins, so my wife & I are flying out to see him and go with him, his wife & some other friends to the Arkansas vs Colorado State game this year on Sept 8th.  He called CSU to get tickets & they are $140 a piece.  I told him, I want to get visitor tix so we’d be sitting in God’s “TRUE & ANOINTED” section.  I called our ticket office and although season ticket packages are not out yet, the ticket office told me tix would probably only be $65 to $75 each for that game since it’s not considered a major opponent.  Since this is a new stadium as of last year being its first year, sounds like they are considering Arkansas being a major opponent & trying to really take advantage of the game with their fans.  Thought that was interesting.

Any SEC team is a 'Major Opponent" to a MWC team.  Arkansas will blow the doors off CSU.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, not too far from Fort Collins, is the hotel in "The Shining."  My wife and I stayed there for a week-end one summer ---- wanted to stay longer, but escaped.  :)

We live in NE Colorado Springs.  My daughter and family are addicted to RMNP.  Fort Collins is only about 30-45 minutes West but well worth the trip.  Estes Park is the closest little town to RMNP.  There is an abundance of elk everywhere in Estes Park.  Take your elk bugle and have some fun.

We may have a few who feel queasy and dizzy.  I'll be surprised if the team doesn't arrive on Thursday to acclimate.  My wife spends a day throwing up on the slopes when we go to Summit County, but that's 10,000 feet and higher.  It never bothers me.  Denver never bothers my wife, and it's 500 feet higher than Fort Collins.

I tell everyone that comes to the Frontrange to drink plenty of water.  You will dehydrate at this elevation and not even know it.  Folks from Arkansas need to start drinking a lot of water at least a week out if you are coming to the game.  If it is a night game it gets chilly fast as soon as the Sun goes down over the mountains.

Skied in Aspen for 25+ years and never did any "pre" game work. I'm sure it impacts some worse than others, but I never saw any in our group bothered.

Buddy's bed and breakfast is a nostalgic choice for me.  They also have a bar and grill and Sarge, the main chef, is a woman who can cook anything and conk a dishwasher over the head with a frying pan with her right hand while deep frying onion rings with the other.

Lots of hog memorabilia on the walls including an autographed Loyd Phillips jersey that is my personal favorite of all the junk he has up in there.

Tell them Skandar sent you and you can get the all you care of eat breakfast made to order featuring catheads and red eye gravy and sugar cured ham and fried eggs and taters by the long ton in all configurations know to man.

Doubt they have any vacancy but if you're looking for a good spot before or after the game (they're open until 2:00 am on game nights) it's worth a visit.

Does anybody know of a way to buy a parking pass for tomorrow night (preferably in lot 60 or 62) otherwise we’ll probably go for someone’s yard.

Thanks!

I used to just pull up really slowly to the attendants, then just as they start walking my way, I just gunned it right past them into lot 56.  I made several circles around the lot and found a spot.

Only one time was there a maverick attendant, who literally made it his mission to make sure I didn’t get a spot.  He came up to me and asked me if I was the guy that just drove past him.  I said, “no, I think it was that guy” and pointed towards the Bud.  Never saw him again.

Fun times as a young college student :)

That is probably true for younger folks that are 50 and younger.  I have lived here for 23 years and I am 64 so I'm used to it.

Located it and have put it on Sandy's and my "to do" list ---- perhaps right after the Colorado State game if we can make it to Fort Collins.  Would be a nice road trip.

"Timberline Lodge is a mountain lodge on the south side of Mount Hood in Clackamas County, Oregon, about 60 miles (97 km) east of Portland. Constructed from 1936 to 1938 by the Works Progress Administration, it was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression. Timberline Lodge was dedicated September 28, 1937, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt."

"The National Historic Landmark sits at an elevation of 5,960 feet (1,817 m), within the Mount Hood National Forest and is accessible through the Mount Hood Scenic Byway.[3] Publicly owned and privately operated, Timberline Lodge is a popular tourist attraction that draws two million visitors annually.[4] It is notable in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining."

SEC fans love Death Valley, have major beef with Neyland Stadium

Quote
SEC stadiums mentioned in a positive manner — either as a place fans want to visit or a place they’ve enjoyed visiting. There’s a clear winner:

    LSU’s Tiger Stadium (19)
Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (7)
    Texas A&M’s Kyle Field (7)
    Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium (6)
    Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium (6)

… but they have major beef with Neyland Stadium

Sure, Neyland received 5 votes in our unscientific poll, while poor Missouri finished at the bottom with zero. But the level of completely unprompted hatred for Knoxville’s crown jewel...
