I've never seen a group of fans who are so quick to tell someone else how to spend, or usually, not spend their money.  If they've never been there, it's a stadium to see, at least once.

Agreed. Worth every penny last year.

I usually buy the $125 tix and have always been pleased w/ the seats I receive --  in the 200 section all years but one, and in the 100's once.

Last year bought the $300 section tickets and enjoyed them as well. But I had to StubHub them to get the section we wanted. I gave away my $125 tickets and the couple I gave them to ended up skipping the game (sigh).

As much as it pains me to say it...don't buy games like these thru the university.  You can get much better seats thru craigslist, stubhub, or the local dfw brokers etc.  I've gone to several and you can find cash parking for $20 nearby, the day of the game.

Wonder why you can't pick your seats like you could in years past through the University? Have I missed something?

Also, whenever I have used a parking pass there they always have told me to park anywhere I wanted no matter where my pass was for.

Cant seem to find a topic on this so here goes: Finally going to arlington this year. Purchasing tickets through the ticket office i notice they have different ticket levels. Is it worth it to bump up from the $85 single game ticket to the $125? What sections are good to sit in and which ones do you want to avoid? Last but not least, what are some recommended places to stay the night? Any help is greatly appreciated  :razorback: :razorback: :razorback:

Why do you want to go to the game? Is it to see the players up close, in real life? Is it to take in the experience of being around tens of thousands of other hog fans and share a collective experience? Is it to go to a new stadium? To help with the volume level?

How you answer that and weight each question should help you make the decision. How easily can you afford the extra 40 bucks? What will the more expensive seats give you that the cheaper ones won't? Is that extra benefit worth the extra cost? Depending on how much lower the seats are, it basically just makes the players bigger. Actually, higher up can give you a better overall view of the field of play. Being lower gives you a better sense of being immersed as there are lot of people in front and behind you. Being very close gives you a great view of what's right by you, but when the snaps are far away, you are at such an angle that you basically have to watch the screens to see what is happening same as a nosebleeder.

The lowest price compels you watch the world's largest TV at eye level. Stay home and save the $...

I'll continue buying the 400 level $125 tickets thank you. I love the view up high.  I love the atmosphere at this game outside and inside the stadium. The video board only adds to the experience.

Yet I bet you have no problem spending money how you see fit and don't care what others think about that. As I've said before "to each his own". People spend money in all sorts of ways and sometimes it might surprise you. I've seen what was suppose to be a homeless person on the streets of Boston pull a cellphone out of his pocket when it rang. Also know someone that was trying to sell something that was priced at $30 and the guy buying it was one of the richest guys in Memphis, Kemmon Wilson before he died and Kemmon wouldn't buy it because the guy wouldn't negotiate down to $20.

$85 for a ticket to a football game? THAT is outrageous!

<Sarcasm off>
Caught the sarcasm. Well said. You don't want to know what I paid for two 15th row center floor tickets to the Black Sabbath Tulsa concert coming up this fall.  ;) As far as football, both TU and Okie State have been charging $100.00 plus for premium game tickets for quite some time now. Don't know about OU, I try not to pay them much attention. If we beat TCU and aTm prior to the BAMA, OM, Florida, and LSU series of Fayetteville games, $85.00 will be seen as a really cheap ticket.

Ha...spent the last 10 years taking my son to concerts of classic bands I couldn't afford to see back in the day. The running joke has been that most of em are performing in walkers and wheelchairs. Actually, most of em are now sober, and really glad for the attention. Saw Ozzy a few years back on his solo tour. Really good show. The sarcophagus thing would be a nice touch to open this show if Alice Cooper doesn't have it copyrighted.  :)

Ranking each of the 14 schools based upon the craft breweries in the city of the university

Quote
8. Arkansas Apple Blossom Brewing, Fossil Cove and Columbus House are in a friendly battle for the title of the best brewery in Fayetteville. The city offers a healthy mix of brew pubs and breweries, and the beer drinking has stepped up from PBR to fine porters. Spottie Ottie Oatmeal Stout is bold and complex beer from Columbus House.

I would try to stay in the "near south side" area.  Magnolia Ave. has several restaurant and bar options.  If you can stay at the Rosen House its an awesome B&B. Its walking distance from Magnolia Ave in Historic Fairmount and about a mile from the stadium.

If that isnt up your ally there are several options downtown. Its a bit too commercialized for me and there is more fun to be had (and better food/beer) in the near south side area IMO.

http://www.rosenhouseinn.com/

http://historicfairmount.com/

I live in the neighborhood and should be at that game so let me know if you need additional info.

Lots of hotel options all over DFW. I'd stay in the mid cities or even Dallas, because FW hotels will probably jack up rates that wknd.

Hotels raise or lower rates based on demand. They use yield strategies just like airlines do. Those demand factors for a large urban city may or may not be there for an event like a game OR one may be able to find something without an increase close but not "real" close to the stadium. For example the hotels right around the stadium would most definitely raise rates but those only a few miles away might not. Some on the other side of town might actually lower rates especially if they are primarily a business persons Mon - Thurs normal stay pattern. The real beauty of the DFW area is it is so large if one needs to find a lower rate it will be available if one is willing to drive a little bit to the stadium yet still enjoy other things to do. I'd bet a nice hotel could be had between $80 and $150 and the drive wouldn't be to bad.

Sure it's winnable, it's probably a toss up, they are favored early on. We both have to replace a lot on offense and have several returning on defense. It should be a 4th qt game.

Fort Worth is a cool place.   I've lived here for 21 years now and if you like bbq you need to go to Angelo's on white settlement rd especially if you like a cold beer with your q.   There are tons of hotels in town and  not that many people in town for it.   Right around the stadium the rates will be higher but you won't have to get far away to get decent rates.  The campus is neat but there's not really much to do there.  Downtown ft worth is cool and you can get any kind of food you want.   Let me know what you like and I can give you some non tourist places to eat.

IF I had to live in the DFW metro area I would probably choose Ft. Worth over Dallas depending on my commute to work. I also really like the suburbs north of both. Euless is good also. That's where my wife used to live.

3 Jakes Burgers
4 Swiss Pastry Shop
5 Los Vaqueros
6 Risky's

I might suggest Arlington for convenience sake, but Dallas plays the Giants the next day, so hotels may be scarce and expensive. On the other hand, Cowboys/Giants would make for a great weekend.

Been to uncle Julio's once good stuff. Thanks for the list. Used to listen to Kidd Craddock show and they always raved about Joe T Garcia's but I have never made it there.

Hard 8 is pretty good, but I wasn't just like blown away, but I went to the one in Stephenville, so maybe there is a difference younghog. I am a BBQ snob though, most places don't meet the standard of what I can pull off my own grills! I figure I am an amateur, you do this for a living, you should be considerably better than me!

I'll throw in Burleson, @15-20 minutes south of the stadium area. Nice hotels at the Alsbury exit, Babes dinner house in Old-Town.

IF I had to live in the DFW metro area I would probably choose Ft. Worth over Dallas depending on my commute to work. I also really like the suburbs north of both. Euless is good also. That's where my wife used to live.

We lived in Flower Mound for a few years....Kids went to Marcus HS for a little while. Good area to live because it is between the split of the 35s.

I know it and Lewisville well. Spent a lot of time there, at least years ago. I also like Denton.

We got cheap good rooms in Hurst a few years back when the Hogs played the Ags in Arlington.  If my wife and I end up going to this game I think I'll look there again.  It was a nice area and not far from FW either.
