Our backup game was shuffleboard at the D-Lux, the same applied with the number of pitchers.

;)  Remember that also.

Ding-Ding is gone?! Man, it's been a long time since I've been to Maxine's.

Back in our day there was a bar on Dickson that also had one, late 70's early 80's.  The name escapes me.  There was an old drunk who would hustle us college boys for Busch Tall Boys.  Always thought he couldn't be as drunk as he seemed to bowl that well.

Rogers Rec had one.

Nevermind.... I was thinking you were talking about shuffleboard.

I can't seem to remember the other machine on Dickson and I knew every bar.   8)  I had a permanent indentation on my shin for about 4 years from that machine, there was nothing like Maxine and Cowboy.

If you are flying in the day before the game, and flying into XNA, drive into Springdale and eat an evening meal at AQ Chicken House or the Italian place (I forgot the name, but not the food) in Tontitown. Afterwards, go to the Truck Stop at Exit 82, (hi way 412) and pick up some Hog apparel or accessories to wear to the game. 😎 Spend the night in Fayetteville. Eat at Foghorn's for lunch. As you are walking up the hill from there on the way to the game, you will pass the Hogville Tailgate on the left hand side of Razorback road. Stop in and hang out until  some of us start walking the rest of the way to the game. Find your seat and call the Hogs. If you are a fan of the opposing team, do this anyway and you will make tons of friends. You can cheer for your own team as well, between the Woo, the Pig, and the Sooie. You won't have much time so you better be ready to get it in as quick as you can. 👍 J/K. DWR Razorback Stadium is a fun place to visit. Enjoy your stay.

Go to Bottoms Up on Poplar. It will make for a good story, hopefully some laughs, and new found appreciation for any other venue of the adult themed, naked pole dancing genre.

Yep. Glory years ended around end of 90's with new owner. Springdale location seemed to go downhill pretty quick back then. Have not tried it in recent years though.

Whether driving from XNA or Tulsa, it's worth stopping in Tontitown for lunch or dinner.

Mama Z's, the Venesian Inn, and Guido's Pizza are all worthwhile.

For food: Cherry Street or the Brady District has a nice selection of really good local food, I am partial to Kilkenny's Pub fish & chips & Gangus Grill. There is a couple of  really good live music venues they are Cane's Ball Room & the Brady Theater. The Tulsa Zoo and Aquarium is above average.

I MIGHT be out Saturday night with some friends. If you want to be around a lot of people, go downtown. There are plenty of places to drink, and you can get great food from one of the food trucks that sets up near Cain's. I occasionally drive for Uber, and one of the most popular clubs is Legends, though if you don't like country music you are pretty much limited to bars.

If you are looking for stuff to do during the day, there is a zoo and a few hiking or biking trails. There are sometimes things going on at Guthrie Green downtown, also near Cain's Ballroom and across the street from Majestic (if you're into that sorta thing). I believe this Saturday evening they are showing a movie there. Guthrie Green, I mean, not Majestic.

Nashville's food frenzy

USA TODAY says Nashville has the third best local food scene in the country — better than New Orleans and San Francisco. Zagat puts Nashville No. 6 on its list of America’s Next Hot Food Cities.

It seems our appetite for new restaurants is insatiable. More than 120 restaurants opened in Nashville in 2014 and 2015, according to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp.

Still, it’s hard to get into some of the city's hottest restaurants. Many dining regulars grumble that it can take a week or two to find a reservation at Nashville’s more popular spots.

Vogue magazine recently included the exclusive Catbird Seat — with only 22 seats — on its list of 13 Hardest Restaurant Reservations in America.

I don't think you've got the right perspective about this, Delta.  This is not a big cash cow for Jerry; it is for us.  Well, let's put it this way; we make more money playing two games there than we would hosting a game in Fayetteville one year, then playing the return in College Station the next.  PLUS, we get all of the DFW area exposure and the prestige of playing in the finest football facility in the world every season - both of which are solid recruiting tools.

There's a reason we twisted A&M's arm to sign the extension when we acquiesced on letting them play LSU on Thanksgiving weekend.

This series at JerryWorld is all about what WE want.

north Tulsa is ghetto - stay outta there

North Tulsa has Stutt's and Wilson's BBQ and White River Fish Market. Nothing fancy, just good food.

Agreed. Ted's reminds me of the microwaved enchilada dinners I'd have in college.

You eaten at Calaveras Grill (Lewis/244)? Used to run Costa Azul in East Tulsa (now a Saxby's) and before that started El Rio Verde in North Tulsa. CGrill is the best incarnation yet - could be elite level dining if they wanted that, but they are happy with lunch counter setting.

Tacos San Pedro (East 21st) is another lunch counter place (order at the counter, they call a number) that is fantastic. Cancun (Lewis/6) is good. Casa San Marcos (21/Garnett) is my latest "find". Soured on El Pollo Gallo (21/Garnett) - what I liked was pretty limited, but a friend swears by it.

Tres Amigos (81/Lewis) has a few traditional dishes on the specialty menu that make it worth going to (basics are not memorable). Similarly, La Hacienda (38/Peoria) has some good items if you know what to order. Bravos Grill (51/Yale) is more well-rounded (broader menu of decent options).

We love El Fagon in Owasso if you happen to drive that way.

I am not partial to the "upscale" Tulsa mexican restaurants outside of Cafe Ole (34/Peoria) which is exceptional with a New Mexico twist.  I am not fond of El Guapo (I may be in the minority) or Mexicali Border Cafe. Both are superior to On the Border (unless it is happy hour and I am happy eating chips and queso + a couple of beers).

Taco Trucks are another matter. They are universally solid, but the quality shifts day to day. Some are convenient after a late night (many are open until 3-4am on the weekend). My wife worries about the kitchen conditions. A media expose (can't remember the outlet) revealed that the top "upscale" restaurants had more health code violations than the taco trucks. LOL

So many of these places are dependent upon the right person prepping the food or being at the helm in the kitchen when you order. The owner of Calaveras Grill told me who to look for in the kitchen for an off-menu item I loved at Costa Azul that they don't make unless you request it. That is what gets frustrating - a cook leaves one place and appears at another spot and the quality at both shifts.

2 things:

A&M can also tell recruits the same thing, exposure in DWF, etc, so it's a wash. And I would tap the breaks on calling that stadium the "finest football facility in the world". Jerry may think it is, but it has lot's of issues. People who live here know it's not all that.

It's still the Taj Mahal of sports venues, but I seriously doubt playing there one game a year will ever have any real impact on recruiting when nothing else does.

A&M can also tell recruits the same thing, exposure in DWF, etc, so it's a wash. And I would tap the breaks on calling that stadium the "finest football facility in the world". Jerry may think it is, but it has lot's of issues. People who live here know it's not all that.

First, Arkansas is the OUT of state school; we do and always have had a nice presence in DFW, and it is not all that far from Fayetteville.  But our presence there cannot compare to that of the Aggies, who probably have 10 times the alumni in the DFW area that we do.  Plus, their location is only a couple of hours from Dallas.  So - yes - they get the same things we do, but they ALREADY have a huge presence in DFW and are one of the cool in-state schools to go to.  We are not.  So we get more BENEFIT out of that exposure than they do.  How is that not obvious?

As for whether or not JerryWorld actually IS the finest Football facility in the world, in the perception of HS recruits (especially those we target), it unquestionably is the most prestigious. And that's all we care about.

Jerry gets all of the parking fees and concession money. That ain't exactly chicken feed.
