I second this.  Stay away from Dickey's.

Someone stated there's no good Barbeque down here.  I felt the same way in Arkansas.  Guess it depends on what you grow up with.  Texas barbecue is more beef, very smoky, and better eaten without sauce.  In texas we say good barbeque doesn't need sauce.  In arkansas it's mostly pork, a little less smoky, with heavy emphasis on sauce.  I worked near Whole Hog in little rock and it was just ok to me.  Didn't like it all that much.  just an individual taste, but I gave several places a shot.  If you want to try Texas barbeque go ahead, just don't expect a punch of pulled pork and sweet sauces.

lol. quick story. when i moved to texas from ark i was really excited to try texas bbq (beef not pork..that's an obvious). So everyone raved about Dickey's. it started in dallas...been around since 1930 (not sure bout that). blah blah blah. So that was my first impression of TX bbq and well, i guess you can guess what i thought of texas bbq then. Took me a good 6 months or so to try anywhere else. gawd i hate dallas....

Awesome, so I could have spent approximately $800 to go see this game, or host a watch party at my house for less than $200. Guess which option I chose.

It will be worth attending at least once...I've spoken to several people who say the TV doesn't do the stadium justice.  Sometimes you just have to treat yourself, after all it is only money!  If not this year you will have 9 more years to try and catch a game.

I understand money is tight right now and a lot of people don't have the funds to attend, however there are a bunch of people who are just plain cheap and want to complain about the ticket prices instead of stepping up to the plate.

If you ask for Pork in Texas, they will give the sausage links not Pork Shoulder FYI

to add....dont be surprised if your pulled pork you order is chunked. Red, Hot, And Blue's pulled pork is thick chunky strips.

I know that conventional wisdom usually says stay away from chains when looking for the best BBQ, but I have had some great meals at the County Line in a few different places around Texas. Not sure if there's any in the Metroplex, but the place is good

Used to go to Bone Daddy's House of Smoke in Arlington after going to see the Sox kick the Rangers' ass...nothin amazing, but as mentioned the scenery makes the food taste even better ;D

My reasoning for not going this year is this trip would cost as much as the trip to a bowl game and I want to go to CBP's first bowl game and be part of the start of something special. I also like to go to the SEC tournament and even though we are not good right now that is always a fun trip.

Jerry's beer is cheaper than Steinbrenner's @ Yankee Stadium. Cheapest I could find was $9.

I think i will drink a 'rita after every Hog td. That should cost about $98.

I really like Red Hot and Blue, their BBQ is supposed to be Memphis type BBQ though.  Dallas BBQ scene is a huge mix, if you go south to Waco and further you get to more pure Texas BBQ, no sauce, other than basted with Texas SOP while cooking on a big pit and as has been stated Beef and Sausage.  The sausage is great if it is good sausage, not some crappy processed stuff.  If they make their own, it is probably awesome.

I like Red Hot and Blue too.  Just not their chunky pulled pork.  I lived in Memphis for 2 years and enjoyed the bbq there greatly.

I have  had some excellent BBQ in Austin. Brisket of course, no pork but no one should go to Texas looking for pork BBQ. Brisket and smoked Sausage.

So true... Don't do pork in Texas.. as most Texans I've spoken too don't even consider pork to be bbq...which is blasphemy!!

Is there a Salt Lick in Dallas/FW area?

I'd take the advise of Speedracer and hit TexMex.

The prices at Busch Stadium are almost exactly the same. I thought it was ridiculous.

You won't catch me paying $14 for a margarita or $8.50 for a sandwich. Take yourself some protein bars and a crushed/folded plastic water bottle. I am almost positive you could smuggle those in rather easily.

Take that bottle to the bathroom and get some free water while chomping on what is likely your now semi-melted protein bar.

Not through my gate... I will make you take it out then I will snack on it one the game starts....

Bone Daddy's at 75/Spring Creek (north of 635).  Although, there is not really any good BBQ down here.

Is this a joke?  Texas BBQ is the best in the world.  The original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood is the best in Big D.  The chains all smoke their meat off site but the original has been using the same smoker for over 50 years and it is right there on the spot.

i am what you might call a recreation camel.  my hobbies are golf, drinking, and the razorbacks.  for 3 glorious months out of the year i go to every game and play golf everywhere and drink a lot of good whiskey and smoke decent cigars.  the rest of the year, i play cheap courses and drink natty and wait for the hogs to kick off again.

Some of our favorites when we lived there - Newport's Seafood http://www.newportsrestaurant.com/near American Airlines arena - downtown Dallas. Pappadeaux's - all over DFW - have only been to the one in Richardson off of 75. Abuelo's Mexican (have this in NWA now). Cacharel Restaurant in Arlington http://www.cacharel.net/ - somewhat pricey, but great.

These are in the Dallas area...
Mexican - Unlcle Julio's or Pappasito's or Mi Cocinas
Steak - Lawry's, Del Frisco($$$), Kirby's(great pepper corn steak), Bob's Chop House($$$)
Breakfast - Cafe Brazil(migas are great, wide variety)
Variety - Cool River (Steaks, burgers, pasta, seafood)  and a huge sports bar..pool tables etc.  Located in Las Colinas

Closer to Arlington...go to grapevine or southlake which is where I am staying.  Here is a link.

Look at the restaurants here....favorites, Mi Cocina's, Cheesecake Factory, Brio's & Rockfish.

If you're talking about near the stadium for Saturday, welcome to my neighborhood. Within a couple miles, there's a Pappadeaux and Joe's Crab for seafood......Pappasito's, Mercado Juarez, On The Border and Mariano's for TexMex......Colter's and Dickey's for BBQ (niether great, but okay) along with Red Hot and Blue........Birraporettis and Piccolo Mondo for Italian......Texas Land & Cattle, Saltgrass and Traildust for steaks.....a Pei Wei if you want some Chinese....and Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, Boston's, Humperdinks (brewpub as well) and Swamp Daddys for typical sportsbar fare....just to name a few.  If you're talking about DFW in general, simply way to many to mention. Where in particular are you staying?
