Do we have definitive proof? Pretty sure he missed at least one, if not both, of your criteria in the prior sentence.   Simply having the words in your name doesn't do it.  For example, while I don't always agree with everything you say, I don't automatically think to myself, "dang, he really does have Ryan Mallett's ego".

I'll include the "/s" at the end of my post next time.

Changes are finally coming to high-end tailgating on Alabama's quad
« Reply #18103 on: June 30, 2017, 12:33:15 pm »

Quote
Meticulously arranged in perfect rows of plastic canopies, the Quad on Alabama's campus becomes its own temporary city on football Saturdays in the fall.

Unlike the densely-packed hodgepodge tapestry of the Grove at Ole Miss, this is the model of uniformity as required by the University of Alabama.

It's also a big business --

The least expensive season-long package on the quad now costs $2,450 before the extras like food and drink.

A setup with as many as nine tents would cost somewhere approaching $30,000 for the 2017 season.

2017 SEC Media Days
« Reply #18104 on: July 05, 2017, 09:28:43 am »

Assuming baby B doesn't arrive and alter the day that Arkansas is supposed to be there, I'm taking my son to Birmingham for SEC Media Days next week. Any tips from you all who have been before? Best place to try to see our guys or maybe for my son to get an autograph? I've looked, but I don't see anywhere that tickets or passes are required to attend. Can anyone clarify please? Thanks for the help...

We stayed near Ft Worth downtown area. Courtyard but several moderately priced in area. Nice area downtown Ft Wirth with lots of very good restaurants.
Not very far from stadium going everything was bumper to bumper just had to travel in fewer miles of it.  It was not very bad leaving stadium as most of the traffic was going east not west.

We've stayed at both Residence Inn's in Arlington. Convenient and the one North of stadium/six flags has shuttle to the stadium

If you've never used it before, or even if you have, try AirBnB. I rarely stay in hotels anymore when I travel. Usually cheaper than a hotel, and nicer. Plenty of options in that area, too.

We usually stay at Warwick Melrose hotel in Dallas near downtown ... great neighborhood, near lots of restaurants and bars ... a quaint, older, classic hotel.  http://warwickhotels.com/dallas/offers/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Melrose&utm_content=melrose%20hotel%20dallas&gclid=CjwKEAjw47bLBRDkgorklobUklESJAAGH4-RxgU96f7YLEo7oKnt5x3clzx5YCuOEa8uNskQYQT4BRoCP8Pw_wcB

I would say there really isn't a bad part of town. This isn't a major metropolitian area.. Your best bet for most places is to stay near the freeway. Hotels are Hotels just pick one. Check the reviews for service. You should enjoy your time when you come. Visit Dixon St.

There aren't any really bad areas to stay.  I second the opinion to avoid motels with exterior doors unless you need the cheapest place possible.

My one other piece of advice would be to avoid the Extended Stay south of Sunset in Springdale.  Not that it's dirty or unsafe, which it isn't, but it has the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on at any hotel, ever.

On game weekends I usually do Priceline and get a good deal in Springdale/Rogers.

You get what you pay for as it is with all hotels.

If it has an outdoor corridor, it's pretty lame.

No real safety issues though.

Proliferation of hotels at Wedington Exit on 49 and a couple by Olive Garden in the north part of town kind of hide under the radar.

I know the owner of those out at the Weddington Exit. He runs good hotels and is a great guy.

I stay at the Colonial in Prairie Grove. Very non-fancy, old (think 1950's motel-type with gravel driveways and window A/C's), and cramped rooms. But it's very clean, 15-20 minutes from RRS, there are always several rooms available (game days included), and $45 a night. I haven't stayed anywhere else....and won't.

I'd recommend to look at AirBnB options. There may be some sweet rooms/places to rent near the stadium or around town that'd be way cooler/more affordable than similar value in a hotel.

Ha! I know it well but never gave it much thought.  My mama was born in the hospital  (since torn down) next door.

The lady that owns it  (her name escapes me right now) is sweet and keeps the place nice and neat.

There are no truly dangerous areas in NWA. However, a good rule of thumb is to avoid east Springdale, east Rogers, south Fayetteville, and weddington west of i-49.

By avoid I simply mean if your car were going to be broken into over night, it would be more likely in these areas.

That Motel 6 is where a lot of the "homeless" people live that you see holding signs around Fiesta Square.

I'd avoid the Lindsay Management company properties. They are not terrible places to rent, but are cookie cutter type apartments with cheap build and over priced. You can usually find somewhere cheaper to live that is nicer quality.

Embassy Suites in Rogers is the best hotel in NWA period.    Marriott Courtyard in Fayetteville is best in Fayetteville.    I've stayed in both several times and was always treated like royalty.    Neither is a bargain or cheap though....      Simply put, Fayetteville could use several additional upper end hotels..............

Wedington west of I49 has a bevy of nice hotels... Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Comfort Inn & Suites. I used to live over on that side of town. Just stay away from Betty Jo and you're more than safe over there...
