I went to Mr Burger last night, but couldn't wait out the line. I went today at 11:00 and still had to wait 30 minutes. Here is my final meal. For what it is worth, a super sonic double cheeseburger is almost identical to the Mr Burger. The onion rings today were almost too greasy to eat.

That's a decent looking gut bomb right there.  Of course, I subscribe to the "greasier the better" theory of eating.

At times, I think you're a brother from a different muther......the old gut bomb, with extra grease, was always the cure for the hangover in college.

I always liked the plate lunches at the DLUX, eating healthy, you know. Unfortunately, we would eat lunch, but then go play shuffleboard, shoot pool, and play the pinball machines. Numerous days we ate supper there, too. These were the days we didn't go "bowl" at Maxine's.

Since I didn't matriculate at UA, I didn't get to experience the DLUX.  But I did spend countless hours at Ton's, a beer joint/pool hall/redneck bar at the Morgan exit, just across the county line from Conway.  Sounds an awful lot like DLUX.

hoggusamoungus spent a few hours there too.  I suspect he got thrown out a few more times than I did though.

I matriculated at the corner of Broadway and 9th St. once and had to do four weeks of community service....

Yes, several. Not sure what the top number was though.

I can remember 3. One where mama dean's  (rip) was, one where knight times tattoo is now, and the one off garland.

I used to like Mr Burger but it's been scary for a long time.

One Minute Man left open in El Dorado, as far as I know. If that goes under, I may make the drive down to the homeland to pay my final respects.

Its closing again.  This is from the casa taco thread:

Saw where Mary Maestri's is closing, "again". I always preferred the Venetian Inn over MM, but it might have been that they let you bring your cooler in with you, nice as a freshman. Also first time I had spaghetti with my steak, good rolls, too.

Coy's prime rib and chicken fried stead were as good as you could get.

Poor Fred's was that the breakfast place down south, under the hill? That place had the biggest omelettes I've ever seen.

Yes and yes.  On Poor Fred's,hanging off every side of the plate.  Had to use 4 or 5 eggs.

Stealing some other names from the Casa Taco thread....

Fuzzy's
Casa Taco
Mary Maestri's
Cafe Santa Fe
Muley's
My Pleasure
Jerry's
Pizza Planet Sunday night buffet

I thought about My Pleasure, but couldn't remember the name.  Great Prime Rib.

The wait was always too long at Jerry's, but once the breakfast arrived all was forgiven.

There was no mention of geographical boundaries. Therefore, the closing of the Orleans House in Arlington, Virginia, a few years back, was a sad day for humanity.

Where was Mama Dean's again?  The plate lunch place we used to go to back in the day was on 16 on the left after turning off School, Ma Drake's, IIRC.

And as I mentioned in the Mr. Burger thread they ha a great prime rib.  Had friends who rented a place about 2 blocks away in those days.  Come to think about it, the prime rib might have sucked but we were so loaded we couldn't tell.

The Pleasure Dome!

They used to do a Thanksgiving meal for students who couldn't get home.

Of course, that's ~20 year old data.

I only ate there a few times. I remember a buddy of mine saying his dad left a waitress a Kugerrand as a tip one day, she didn't know what it was, or was worth. She gave it back for a $5 tip, it was probably around $350-400 back then.

The Boardwalk Cafe (simple, cheap food. The Borealis Breakfast was awesome. Biscuits, eggs, smothered in gravy). Also had this giant flat tortilla, covered in refried beans, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese. It was like $1.50 and saved me when I was starving many a time.

Pete's Place: when we stayed up all night, this always seemed to be the place we ended up. The Gyros omelette was the stuff.
