Bard's was a great breakfast place back in the day. R Street in the Heights. Their plate lunches were also worthy.

Glad I could help.

I'm worried about the game Saturday but all anybody wants to talk about is bacon and biscuits and ham and red eye gravy.

From an old, portly, breakfast-lovin' Hawg fan - I offer up my favorite local Southern breakfasts. (none are buffet)

1. Ozark Mountain Smokehouse off Cantrell and Mississippi: maybe not the best, but close to stadium
2. BJ's Market Cafe off East McCain near Prothro in NLR Farmer's Market: worth the drive (all I'm saying)
3. Homer's West on Rodney Parham: Not as good as Homer's East by airport, but open on Saturday
4. For your hippie side, try Root Cafe on S. Main: expect a wait
5. Crackerbarrel....yeah I know, but they're not too bad: out west at Shackleford Crossings
Bonus: in Hillcrest area try Leo's Greek Castle: will make you a good breakfast, but only twelve people fit in the restaurant (if that)...or just stop by my place and I'll whip you up something.

Can't speak to some of the others mentioned, but if you wait for lunch...Skin
J's in NLR, Piro's on S. Main, Samantha's Tap Room - All good
Go up 365 North and try Bellwood Diner.

Thanks for the map, Harry Rex! This thing may help jog the memory of mine. Best I can remind, that breakfast place was northwest of Cajuns Wharf, south of Loca Luna, and east of Kavanaugh. May have to make a trip down this weekend.

It was a girl's name or close to a girl's name...something like phlegmly's or gigglies or craggily' s or turdston's or flappy's or something that wasn't a name you hear every day but it made sense.

And they may not have had a buffet every day but I was there on a weekend and they did have a buffet set up right in the middle of the restaurant.  New, stainless steel, and there was pork of every kind fried up and laid out there with them tongs and they had scrambled eggs but they'd bring fried eggs omlets to your table.  They had blueberry and pecan and strawberry and reglar syrup for the pancakes and French toast.  I've said enough about the taters and gravy I guess.  What a feast it was.  I bet they just had a special buffet that day and that is why nobody remembers it.

They made (sold)  some good taffy, plus you could buy a pecan roll & back-scratcher.
Goo stuff.

I remember eating there one time on the way home from St. Louis.  All I remember is they had these tables that were about four feet tall and they didn't have any seats.  We ate standing up. That was strange even for my family.

You could sit at the bar at The Red Bar but it is not ideal for game watching.

Stop by Modica's Market, get a couple pounds of shrimp, a case of your favorite brew, and a Key Lime pie, surely one of those will help.

Already have tickets, hotels, tailgating and social plans for ATM game.  Is that a curse or blessing at this point?

Do I just go with tempered expectations and just enjoy.  Or do I let myself as usual let my excitement and adrenaline build to standing all game cheering and calling those hogs.

Might as well dive on in to the game and let her rip.  Heck the players and coaches can't run and hide, so nor am I.

Go hogs.

Don't do it.  Juhrry's World is more like Disneyland than a college football experience.  Too much going on during the game inside the stadium, too big and just too Juhrry.

Not to mention we are going to get our arse handed to us in that amusement park.

DJ,  thanks for the negative emotional support.

BTW,  been to Jerry's World every time the razorbacks have played there and is a great place for college football. Especially when we win.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood.  I thought when you said "curse", you were thinking about not going.  Of course watching the Hogs will be fun, and I hope you have a great time.  I lived in the DFW area, and that is what many think about the stadium - that's all.

Hope you have fun!

Bythelake, I think you've got the right approach. Just let it all hang out! Be loud and cocky.

I was at the Giants-Cowboys game…every time I walk in there, I forget how ridiculous that place is. As soon as I go in far enough past that first concourse where I can see people in the stands, I think it's a computer-generated movie set. It just doesn't seem real. I went to our K-State Cotton Bowl, so the other side was solid purple. That was nuts.

Go get rowdy!

Good luck. Here's one positive spin you can look at...we are literally 0-0 in conference play. Maybe Toledo was a fluke and Texas Tech is an eventual playoff team this year?

I don't believe that stuff for a second but one can dream I suppose.
