There hasn't been a shoney's in little rock for years. Not many buffets of any kind really, unless you want Chinese.

For a traditional breakfast, I would suggest ozark smokehouse or Leo's.  Neither is a buffet, but serve your eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, etc.
This.

Both are fairly close to the stadium. Local eateries that serve to order. Why dip into a tray of scrambled eggs when you prefer 'em sunny side up?

Sit down, relax and get what you want. Leo's in in Hillcrest, and the Smokehouse is just off Cantrell, northwest of Steinmart (if it's still there).

Look up Littlefield's on JFK in North Little Rock. Not a buffet but a great great breakfast all day.

Seriously great suggestion.

Not sure where you are staying, but the Crowne Plaza (West end of 630 at I-430, on Shackelford) has a pretty good buffet. They added $7 for our room per night, but we received two breakfast buffets ($20 value) for each night. Full hot breakfast with omelet & waffle stations. Not bad.
Very good buffet. Kids will love it.

There a breakfast joint out there by the airport where the girls dress real sexy.  It's really good and the price is right.  Can't remember the name of it though....

Homer's is the name of the place. East Roosevelt before the airport.  Also Homer's West on Rodney Parham.

Oh my gosh.  I am going to try to find the name of it now.  I haven't eaten there in five years but they have sawmill gravy, fried taters by the half ton, bacon and eggs any style and sausage and ham and  cat head biscuits and grits with a snowcap of butter and pancakes and pecan pancakes with syrup.  It's one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever ate and that is saying something as I enjoy a big breakfast and used to have a booth saved for me about ever Sunday at flapjacks buffet. That old feller that takes your money there likes to see folks eat a big breakfast and I like that all you can eat attitude in dives like flapjacks and the place I'm talking about in little rock, which is better than flapjacks by five times and flapjacks is plenty good for most of you anyway.

I think I Know where you're talking about. Me and the wife ate there once. I can still taste those cathead biscuits with muscadine jelly.
Seems like it was called DeWayne's or something. That ring a bell? Maybe it was Blue's?

Unfortunately, Brown's hasn't served breakfast in several years.  I would have chimed in already.  For those of you that have had Shoney's buffet for breakfast, it was actually bigger and better.  I absolutely hated losing breakfast from that place.  It was fantastic.

This for the oldtimers  on here - just curious whether anyone remembers Owens Country Kitchen - corner of Chester and 7th.
The best breakfast I've ever had in my 50+ years.
Ham w/ redeye gravy, fried eggs over medium, bisquits. It was so good I can still taste it all these years later.
Hard to find any redeye gravy now a days.

Needing some insight on the best bang for the buck. We will have several hungry mouths to feed the morning of Toledo game. We are looking for rrecommendations for either a restaurant style or hotel buffet. Any help will be appreciated!

WPS!

My suggestion would be to stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Financial Parkway. They have a wonderful full breakfast buffet and they have an area where they do pancakes and eggs cooked to order. It comes with the suite, there is no extra charge. They have an inside secure parking area too.

They do have that muscadine jelly but I always slather my biscuits in gravy and throw pepper on it like ticks on a stray dog.

The fried taters with onions and cheese are the featured item there, though.  That is why I keep going back and that is why half the board is all wrapped up in this thread I would guess. Those who have eaten there can attest to their wholesome goodness.

It's got a two word name it seems like.  It is driving me crazy that I can't remember.

Delta's living in the past.  He usually posts stuff about JR's ribs, Tia's, and Blue Mesa Grill, other defunct restaurants.  Don't pay any attention to him when it comes to eating joints. Do pay attention to most of his other stuff. He's spot on about sports.

Wherever you end up, you will be able to tell if the food is good or not by "averaging" the weights of the other customers. If they average out to about what our average OL player looks like, then the food is good. or you could drive to Conway, and eat at Stobys.

Stopped in there for a snack before catching an early plane. Ordered coconut pie and then saw a cheese dip headed to someone else. So, I added cheese dip to my order. The funny waitress called it a breakfast for champions.
