Yellville to Harrison is longest 28 miles ever. Also Alpena to Huntsville seems like an eternity also.

I've driven over the top many many times. It's shorter but can be frustrating. On the way back, I typically get road rage after Hardy.

The Southern route is longer but I've made it in 4hrs 11 minutes going 80 the whole way.

It is an unfair advantage.  The stupid thing is the league could enforce it if they wanted to.  It's not like 8 schools in the league allows them or 6 or 4 or 2, it's 1 school.  You would think the other 13 would get tired of it and just decide to strictly enforce the rule.

Don't blame MSU blame the SEC and the other member schools for letting them get away with it.  Easily enforced through fines and in game penalties if they wanted to.

At least we can rest assured that the SEC strictly enforces honest and fair officiating so that no team has an unfair advantage.

I'm from Paragould too. Only time we take 412 is if we stop at Lake Norfork and stay overnight at the cabin. If I drive straight through I take 67 down to Bebee and cut across there.

My reference for how long I lived there was to show I know a bit more about the area than a person that has been there a few times for a game.

If it was a s-hole I would call it as such, and can name plenty of places in MS and AR that are.  For example if traveling to Starkville don't stop in West Point.

I've been to plenty of games in Fayetteville, LR, and Starkville and it is a better tailgating and pregame atmosphere right around the Stadium IN MY OPINION.  People are there for the game not just to get drunk and fight (Little Rock) and the areas for tailgating are better than Fayetteville which consists of a parking lot, a parking garage, or the gardens a half mile away.

Also there have been many others who have spent a decent amount of time in Starkville for whatever reason echoing my sentiments about Starkville.  Yes the people that just call it an armpit are ignorant. Sorry if that includes you.

No I'm not ignorant. IF you live somewhere long enough you will find something positive about it. I live in Memphis and although it is an armpit there are SOME redeeming qualities about it. I don't like old misses and I do like the bulldogs but I'll take Oxfart over Starkville anytime as long as I didn't have to deal with the rebel bears, but that isn't possible. Everyone has different opinions of tailgates greatness and what makes it great. I've tailgated at all the venues in question and disagree with you on that. I've been treated both good and bad at both Mississippi places in question and know that visitors to our venues in Arkansas have been treated both good and bad. To be honest there is good tailgating at ALL of those venues and across the SEC with the possible exception of Vandy.

If it was up to me ever year Lsu v arkansas would be played up here.  Nothing more than player and fans safety.  Good old common sense should rule all the time.  I wouldn't allow our players to go to Mississippi either or Florida.  I think sc is OK yet.

d@mn right.  All of those states are dangerous and many engage in fracking or pumping water into the ground to get the gas out....well this causes problems.  Tjat water has to leave somehow ....and in my opinon (should be obvious) creates a dangerous or even perilous situation for the people there including our beloved hogs when they gotta play there....

....still not with me?....let me spell it out for you....

Quicksand.  It's everywhere down there in that swampy mess and fracking has made it worst.

Does one of our players or fans have to DIE in a quagmire to get the attention of Jeff Kong or slive?

Why do you think I left a good job with benefits making real good pay at the catfish farm!?

Quicksand!

The sand looks solid when you step on it.  "Oh here's a patch of sand I'll just walk acrosst it. Bam!"  Goner.

How would you feel if you read a headline that showed that one of our players like Brandon Allen or Alex Collins had been walking around taking in the sites with his buddies and stepped into what appeared to be a harmless sand pile and then ....pow!

Quicksand!

NOW WHAT!  Imagine the affect on the guys there with him screaming helplessly as he is slowly taken under...

No. Games in swampy marshy areas...especially where there has been fracking. ..dangerous.

I feel like AQ Chicken House and Catfish Hole are always solid choices.

Go drinking on Dickson Street.
Start at Hog Haus for beer
go to Common Grounds for a Chill atmosphere and expensive drinks
Go to Grubs for a really collegey atmosphere and lots of TVs.
Jose's for Mexican food and Margaritas
Bordino's is a nice upscale establishment with Food
Theo's is prety similar to Bordino's
The Piano bar is pretty fun.  The new location is very spacious.

Quicksand used to appear on TV shows and movies all the time back in the day.  Today it's always a laser or robot a shooting at the hero.  Back then it was quicksand and a vine just barely out of reach for the hero.  That's how much things have changed.

I agree going to some of these regions might be dangerous which is why I recommend that some of you consider picking up Forrest city joe along the way to Mississippi this weekend.  Safety in numbers.

back when I worked at the hatchery I used to carry a piece of twine and a hook around with me.  Overly cautious? Maybe.  But I'm here to tell the tale.  I never went into the woods without a large stick or a twine with a hook on the end.

I think the fracking around by the oil industry is to blame.   The minute they started fracking around with the soil to get gas out of there...earthquakes and wost.

Those people that work there ...those guys are not keeping things right either. The set up camps and litter.  I guess you could say those frackers are to blame but it's the big money behind all that fracking that is ruining this great land.

Some of the worst frackers in the country live on the gulf.  That's just one issue.   There's other things to.

ok well....let me start by saying that I have forgot more about quicksand than most here will ever know.  I could right volumes upon volumes about the stuff.  I have lost more to quicksand than probly anyone on here.  Boots. Caps. Baby food.  A aloe Vera plant.  A tame pet skunk named Big Floyd.  An Turquoise Blue Adidas duffel bag filled with metric wrenches and double A energizer battries.   A Frisbee with Elvis likeness painted on it.  A cast iron cornbread pan that made the sweatest corn bread you never had.  Pygmy goat (i didn't like the goat so it wasn't to much of a loss.  Truth is I'm glad he dead)  an autographed copy of a record by Freddie Fender....i could go on and on.  I LIVED IT MAN!  So don't come in here and lecture me about quicksand.

When some SOB starts telling me about quicksand...i just stop listenin. Cause the don't know.

It's the water in the ground that makes it dangerous.  And I belive based on my opinion that shooting water into the ground HAS made it worst.

I know people who will tell you all over the gulf that it has gotten worst.

Jack...please help us understand a little more about this mysterious substance known as quicksand.  One thing I'd like to know is if some items would float or sink in it.  Curious about whether or not these items would float?

1.  Odell's glass eye
2.  Harry rex Vonner
3.  Buddy
4.  A half drank bottle of falstaff
5.  An air biscuit
6.  Lanny's wallet
7.  Wilson's brain
8.  The chip on Forrest city Joe's shoulder

Thanks in advance, jack.

Jack...please help us understand a little more about this mysterious substance known as quicksand.  One thing I'd like to know is if some items would float or sink in it.  Curious about whether or not these items would float?

1.  Odell's glass eye
2.  Harry rex Vonner
3.  Buddy
4.  A half drank bottle of falstaff
5.  An air biscuit
6.  Lanny's wallet
7.  Wilson's brain
8.  The chip on Forrest city Joe's shoulder

Thanks in advance, jack.
I know more about quicksand than i care to say. I've lost a kings ransom to it.  so first off no SOB is gonna come in here and tell me a dang thing about quicksand.  Or the oil industry and fracking.  I could write a novel on both and how they relate to on another!  You don't get it?  Let Jack Blasingame boil down the cabbage for you.

Sience principle #1 What goes in must come out.

you shoot water down into the ground it gotta go somewhere.  Where?  It gurgles up thru the sand over time.  It'll make an average sand pile into quicksand...a deathtrap for one and all.  I used to have this dinette set called the Evolution of Trains or the History of Trains or the Trains Thruought History.  Anyhow. It showed how trains has changed thruoght history.  Starting with the oldest up until about 1970 or so.  I had em because my dads mom ordered them out of the paper.  Whole dinette set.

Well I was datting this hot headed hell cat named Tammy.  This was ....oh hell...  25 or 30 years ago.  I was piss and vinegar.  I got drunk one night and she got mean.  i was happy and she....for nothing more than revenge...took ever beautiful train on every plate and got in my old truck while i was passed out and threw them in a patch of quicksand that had sprung up.

And that is where they are to this very day.  at the bottom of that quicksand.

Now about these things you asked me about.

1.  Odell's glass eye ....sink
2.  Harry rex Vonner ....sink
3.  Buddy...sink fast
4.  A half drank bottle of falstaff....sink slow
5.  An air biscuit  sink.  even if you fart in quicksand while you are dying (which is common.  a lot of people get gassy when they are in there final moments...the dying trots)
6.  Lanny's wallet  Sink hard.  full of gold
7.  Wilson's brain  ...sink
8.  The chip on Forrest city Joe's shoulder  ...sink

Nothing is safe from it.  I think that as the fracking continues you'll see more and more quicksand related deaths in the gulf coast area.

A man died from quicksand not long after katrina if I remember correctly.

What about that turd on OTR's head, Jack?  Is it a floater or a sinker???
That adolesent male Western Diamondback is far from a turd.  Deadly.  very very deadly.  Infact there ain't but 1 THING on this planet more dangerous than an angry rattlesnake 2 feet from you...
Jack, I'm interested to know your thoughts on whether quicksand represents some type of wormhole. Not the tremors kind, the pie in the sky gone missing kind.

Otherwise, wouldn't quicksand pits simply be treasure troves? I for one could use a new duffle bag full of metric wrenches, even if the batteries have expired.
you mean like the bermuda triangle?  I was into that before it became voge to be into the bermuda triangle. or country music.  I was country before it was cool.  Still am.

I guess it could be.  But it is a man made wormhole while all these Texas fat cat frackers frack up our country while fattening their wallets!

Those wrenches weren't new when I lost them out of the back of that station wagon during a chain of events I have trouble explaining to this day.  They were already shop worn but they were craftsmen so they were supposed to replace them.  i don't know if theyd make good without the reciept even if there was a way to get them back.

Also, do you think it will be a single flusher or a multiple flusher?
IF (a big IF) if it was a turd...curled up like that...to maintain that shape and not slide it would mean that it is firmer than (and drier) than what one would expect.

2 flushes unless you are swinging from a vine over a pit of lethal quicksand

sink.
