juco is full of D1 athletes that can't make the grades....

I haven't seen the show, but I have seen many, many great athletes go the JUCO route

Yeah and most likely they are one a team that is featured this year or the one in Scuba.

Some of the terms they play would literally have trouble beating high school teams.

At least in this realm of juco that the show has focused on on years past.

Early in one of the first episode, the hea coach says that he is the play caller and has watched 0 film of their first game opponent. This is right before the game. The team promptly goes out and gets beat 70-21.

At no point in the series do we see anything like preparation or the results of preparation. We see a team with a ton of D1 athletes playing a schedule against teams with 0 D1 athletes that gradually, through talent differential alone gets better as the season goes on.

You may come away with a different impression and that's fine, but I think after watching a couple episodes, you will probably agree.

Very possible

But always have to put into context too. We are still dealing with Juco here. I'd venture to say teams like this one, and scuba, don't do any kind of film break down or game planning. At least at the level you would expect sec coaches to do. The talent disperency between some of these teams is quite laughable.

The coaches and players know it is meant to just be a pitstop.

Looking forward to watching when I get home.

Good Lord, those bunkers. I'd quit if I hit into one of those.

Worse in person, I played the Old Course a couple days ago.. went into 13 at -1.. When I teed off on 14 I was +5.. 2 shots to get out of the fairway bunker and 4 to get out the green side bunker... fortunately my handicap only allows a double, lol.. bet a few pro's wish they had ESC...

They just wanna be kids. Not worried about what college they are gonna attend yet. Great young men.

Well, that is a throwback approach and a refreshing one at that. Sounds counter intuitive, but that outlook takes a certain level of maturity now days... to just be where you are now and enjoy it while it lasts.

I think I remember reading on this board somewhere that students at the University of Arkansas voted to recommend naming the basketball court for Nolan Richardson. Does anybody know what came of that?

This is correct. I think this could be Whaley's breakout year and the offense seems to be tailor made for Hayden's skill set. Hammonds is a game changer, but has only shown glimpses so far.

Boyd had some issues hanging on to the ball early in the season that had him down to 3rd string in junior college. He also is an amazing athlete who made some absolute jaw dropping plays after the mid point in the season, so a year in the program receiving actual coaching and who knows?

Just to be devils advocate here, how much could one really be critical of the coaching over maybe a 13 week period, longer considering spring and such, when you're only seeing segments of it condensed down into 7 or 8 thirty minute episodes?

The show is also geared to focus more on their personal life than be a documentary about the technical aspects of football

I am going to say anything less than 6 wins would be disappointing.
this is where I'm at.  I know it could happen, even Petrino only won 5 in his first year, but frankly I'd be disappointed at any less than 6 as I was with Petrino.

However, if like with Petrino, you can see the potential of the team, where a few breaks didn't go our way, then I will still have hope for the future.

Morris and this team need to get in the habit of making their own luck.
