A couple of days ago I noticed a significant slow down. My typing was delayed from the keyboard to the screen. Turns out Windows 10 was doing a big download in the background.

I have had the same problems mentioned above.  I was starting to think 311 had the Russians hack my computer.  ;)

I've had that problem on both mobile device (desktop version) and my laptop.  I have to wait a few moments to see if what I typed actually makes it into the text box.

Quick addition to the discussion.  The are many tools to diagnose network connections.  Everything from command line interface (CLI), to GUI, and even web based.

First start with a speed test.  The most reliable is through you internet provider.

If a site appears down but you can connect to other websites, check the site from another IP address to confirm that the site is offline.  I use downforeveryoneorjustme.com but there are others that will do the same.

If you are familiar with CLI in Windows you can always use the simple tools like ping and tracert to check the connection.  There are some more advanced tools like the netstat, netsh, and net commands to further delve into your connection.  Windows also has some these tools built-in to the GUI desktop.  You can find them in the control panel and settings gear on Windows 8 and later.

It's not me or my connection.  All other websites are fine.  Hogville seems like it's trying to run some sort of ad in the background.

My first solution would be a built script blocker or ad blocker through a browser extension.  Firefox and Chrome have Add-on and extension sites.  You should be able to block the offending site.  If that fails the following method will give vast and detailed information

To check for current TCP/IP connections on a Windows machine.

Hold down: Windows Key + R
Type:  cmd
Press Enter
A command console Window should appear.
At the prompt
Type:. netstat /a

The returned output will give all current connections connect to your network adapter.  If Hogville is open in the browser window, it will return a list of every IP address and port you are connected to.from that list you could isolate the offending ads IP.  It's a pain but you can whois query every IP address connected, either on the web or through other ways like CLI.  With this info you can help diagnose the issue with the site Admin by providing the offending IP or you could block it manually through Windows firewall by creating a rule.

I hope it's a new mobile app!  Whatever it is I hope implementing it goes smoothly.

If you're still having issues, please let me know who your ISP is.

Also, I will need a traceroute (to Hogville.net) report at the moment you're having issues. Don't worry about posting your IP address publicly; I can get that at the time you make your post. Please view instructions here on how to get a Traceroute to Hogville.net

If you can't do a traceroute on hogville.net, then try www.hogville.net or even 208.73.137.114.
