Harris
Joe/Embery
Hall
Bailey
Gafford

Could be dangerous if the Freahman can play

This, but Iím leaning towards Joe starting.  Theyíll need that scoring in their starting lineup, not like Emberey canít score! I hear he shoots the three pretty well too.  I think from KM.

This upsests me tremendously because he has all the tools to be an elite guard.  He has to: 1) work on his handles and 2) (and most important, imo) gain confidence in his ability to do more than just shoot set 3s.

Agreed, Iíd add that he needs A tougher mentality.  I was really high on him but heís just so soft out there.

About the last third of this video, Chaney's Findley team is playing Embery IMG squad. You see bits of Embery and Jahmius Ramsey in it.

I hope we can have all three of those young men in a Hog jersey. Jahmius is a stud

Why do you feel Khalil is a wild card??  I have seen where Gafford is looking forward to playing with him as if he will be playing.

Also, remind me..........is Embery the guard transfer who is exceptionally quick and excellent distributor of the ball??  And is Jalen Harris a guard?

Jalen Harris is the transfer, Embery is the top combo guard out of Oklahoma, he can get to the basket and shoot the 3 well, he also said in a interview he is excited to get to play with Daniel a year so he can get him the ball

No Seniors!
jr. F Adrio Bailey 6'7" 215
jr. G CJ Jones 6'5" 180
soph. G Jalen Harris 6'2" 170
soph. F Darious Hall 6'6" 210
soph. F Gabe Osabuohien 6'8" 220
soph. C Dan Gafford 6'11" 235
rfr. G Kahlil Garland 6'5" 200
fr. G Isaiah Joe 6'4" 180

fr. F Jordan Phillips 6'7" 205
fr. F Reggie Chaney 6'8" 230

That is a young, inexperienced, not very tall team, that is also very talented and athletic. Hopefully they will all be very coachable, and maybe they will play as a team better than last year's squad.

When you consider that Cook, Thomas and Thompson were not above the rim players, I don't think last years team was considered very Tall/Long. I agree that we very well may play as a more cohesive unit. I think we will be a team that can get 18 to 20 wins and maybe a 8 and 10 or 9 and 9 record in the SEC. It may be an NIT team but I bet we will be fun to watch and difficult to prepare for.

Back in the day I used to go to the barn then the bud and watch Nolan practice his teams. Phrased that way for a reason. Do any of these players have that type of intensity and work ethic for defense. I saw 0 of it last year. Very talented offensive bunch which could be deadly and streaky. I used to hear Nolan and his guys scream out that you game like you practice. So we do that and are any of these new guys D minded.

With the Extremely Young Roster we will have next year
« Reply #164 on: April 04, 2018, 08:52:19 am »

Mike will be forced to play his best roster. I will agree with many, that Mike has under utilized some talented Freshmen over the years. Next Season, I am not sure he will have a chance to do that. I would love it if Mike started 4 Freshmen and Gafford. That is if the rumors of people leaving come to fruition.

So disappointing that in year 8 under Mike Anderson, we are basically having to hit the reset button on our roster.

Hogs have made the tourney 3 out of 4 years, first time in 20 years, crowds are finally filling up, people have actually started to care about basketball again, got a top 25 recruiting class coming, arguably the 2nd or 3rd best sec team in the last 4 years going by tourneys and somehow everybody is saying we are a dumpster fire, this donít even make since.

Do you honestly not see a problem with likely having to start four freshmen? Anton beard was ranked around the same or better than all of next year's class. Forgive me for being skeptical they will be able to come in and immediately contribute at a high level.

You are really hanging your hat on conference tournament wins when you eventually get run out of the building in the semis or final? I mean. Good lord. Aside from this year the SEC was pretty putrid the past four.

i see Harris (Soph), Bailey (Jr), and Gafford (Sr) starting and maybe a decent grad transfer! Maybe even a (RS FR) Garland! Many options, lots to like, and no im not saying Mike is doing a great job I saying he doesnít deserve all these people saying the Arkansas basketball program is a dumpster fire

Well, it's certainly not where it should be in year 8. A rebuilding year in year 8 can  be accepted if there has been prior meaningful success. There hasn't.

Please look at Michigan's history and upswing under Belien. I think you will notice some parallels between our program and theirs from success in the '90s to a dreadful period of cellar dwelling. The difference is they secured a top 15 coach and have reaped the benefits.

Everybody has been saying we need to start making the tourney regularly and thatís the first goal and we are finally doing that, we all knew next year was going to be an iffy year and then in 2019 itís time to make the next step in the program, I really wish that wouldíve been this year but it just didnít happen.

Anton Beard is about the worst example you could possibly have against a young team not performing.  Stats aside, Beard was basically as good as a freshman as he was a senior hahaha.

Hate on Anton all you want, but he actually made the SEC All-Freshman team. So, just going out on a limb here, but if we have four guys on the SEC All-Freshman team plus Gafford, I think weíll be okay.

So, just going out on a limb here, but if we have four of five starters shoot 38% from the field, 63% from the line, have a .6 assist to to margin per game, commit five fouls per forty and record a PER of 12.2, I think we will be a pretty bad basketball team.

Thank you Desi

this is what you need and what i like.

I know this loss stings but what if MA gets Franklin? i am down with the new kids Joe and Sills impress me.  Chaney will be a much better post match with Gafford than Thompson was.

Which, to put it mildly, was not good.

So, just going out on a limb here, but if we have four of five starters shoot 38% from the field, 63% from the line, have a .6 assist to to margin per game, commit five fouls per forty and record a PER of 12.2, I think we will be a pretty bad basketball team.
We get it, you don't like Mike. You've made that clear. Will we see a lot of new faces next year? Yes. But this is no excuse for this program not to play well. Mike knows the bar is at minimum making the NCAAT. That hasn't changed and shouldn't change (unless the bar has been raised and that's on the AD to decide), so Mike has to do what he needs to do to make sure his team is capable of doing just that. If he can't meet that then a change will have to be made. Some of us understand that transfers do happen, but it's not an excuse to lay down and say well in two years we will be back where we were in year 6 or 7. Mike needs to continue building and continue winning. IF he can't then it's time for a change.

bottom line is that the players coming in are very good, and MA and the team should produce respectable results.  Outside of experience i do not see a significant "deficit" in skill.
