  • * Hogs' @Dan_G33 (6-11 F/C) is projected No. 9 overall (lottery) in 2019 NBA Draft, according to http://NBAdraft.net 's latest mock draft. Scouts love his combo of size, length, athleticism, springy bounce, motor, competitive edge, & his per-40-min avgs = 21 pts, 11 rbs, 3.8 blk

Cool, I was wondering when nbadraft.net was going to update.

Draftexpress had him at #8 in their latest.

I know we're losing a lot from last year's team, but not a bad place to be in with a consensus top 10 draft pick as the centerpiece of the team, it could be much worse.

  • It is going to be very interesting to see how much he progresses in the 8+ months until we see him back in game action. Hope he has the opportunity to hit some big man camps. Seems both Moses and BP progressed a lot with summer work. Not just their game but their confidence and their aggressiveness in wanting to be the one to get it done.

  • If he has a breakout sophmore campaign, i could see him going #1 overall. He reminds me so much of AD

I compare him to Anthony Davis too. AD has a slightly longer wingspan but they’re the same build, height, and Gafford is starting to improve on mid range and free throws.

  • * In NBAdraft.net 's latest 2019 NBA Mock Draft (6/5/18), Hogs' center Daniel Gafford @Dan_G33 remains the projected No. 9 overall selection -- a lottery pick. Gafford, named to SEC All Freshman team in '17-18, avg 22.6 mins, 11.8 pts, 6.2 rbs, 2.2 blks, & shot 60.5% FGs

    * At least one NBA front-office source agrees: "Yeah I think he should be projected (a lottery pick) because he was very likely a lottery pick (in 2018) & the 2019 group is much weaker." Scouts love @Dan_G33's combo of size/length, springy athleticism, motor, edge, & per-40-min #'s

  • * Rivals.com 's Eric Bossi projects Hog soph-to-be Daniel Gafford @Dan_G33 (6-11 C) to go 6th overall (lottery pick) in 2019 NBA Draft (story linked), while in its latest 2019 mock draft http://NBAdraft.net  still has Gafford going 9th overall https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/nba-draft-early-look-at-2019-lottery-picks

i'm not going to look all those other guys up but Gafford averaged like 12 and 6. his potential and measurements are whats making him a lottery pick, not what he's actually done on the floor. hopefully that comes this year but it's not that obscene for him to be left off

Jontay Porter made the list on 9.9 and 4,3 on 43% shooting. I would call this a snub for Gafford.

Porter is a former 5-star recruit (so he's going to be at the front of many minds), slightly taller/bigger, has a functional 3-point shot, higher PER, much better passer, equally good rebounder, good shot blocker (but not as good as Gafford), and vastly better FT shooter.

Porter was #19 out of 20 and Gafford was honorable mention. "Snub" seems like we're just searching for something to be unhappy about. This list means absolutely nothing. Both of these kids are going to have great seasons and be high draft picks.

Yea I agree, no way should Porter be ahead of Gafford.

    Snub.

Porter was not rated in last season’s recruiting class. He reclassified. You know this. You also know there wasn’t any buzz nationally about Porter prior to last season so just stop.

It does mean something. There is a body of work to use here. The way I understood the list was that these were the top guys to watch if you got the chance to sit down and catch a game in the upcoming season.

These lists do increase exposure for your program. Only a little for each one and with as many of these type lists that exist these days, a little adds up quick.

One of our own fans claimed it was Gafford’s averages that kept him off the list. I just pointed out that wasn’t the reason because Porter didn’t as well.

Not to mention, anyone who has these two play would tell you Gafford is the better of those two in terms of excitement. No way there are 20 guys better than Gafford and absolutely no way there are 20 guys more electrifying to watch in college basketball.

  • Well at least he made the most dazzling athletes list.
