8 seed Miami travels to Tulsa and 8 seed Hogs go to South Carolina?  Committee can't read a map?

8 seed Wisconsin has to go all the way to Buffalo, NY.

Hmmm....

That's a shorter trip than the Hogs have to make. FWIW

Hmmm....

I'm pretty sure they try to give home court advantage to the 1 seeds; not the 8 seeds. Why on earth would they potentially be giving Kansas a default road game in round 2?

I live in Greenville and all visitors will find that it is a wonderful small city. BS arena is walking distance to downtown that has many restaurants, bars and venues.

Greenville would be worth the trip if there were no tournament. Gorgeous downtown by the river with all the great restaurants and craft beer establishments. Plus, don't miss Furman--one of the most beautiful small college campuses anywhere, thanks to a lot of wealthy alums. Lots of stuff in bloom still, even with the very early spring.

One of my favorite places. What they have done with the river area is amazing. And visitors shouldn't miss one of the most beautiful small colleges anywhere--Furman! It

So, how does S. Carolina get a 7 seed and get to play in Greenville SC?

It's baffling to me, too.  But, they're looking down the barrel at Duke in the 2nd round, so that should be that for the Gamecocks, assuming they beat Marquette.

Couple of reasons:
Miami couldn't be matched with UNC.  KU as a 1 wasn't going to have to face Hog fans.

Obligations or would go.  Hogs Duke Carolina.  Great field there.

KU wouldn't have faced as many Hog fans as you think they would have. KU already has about 80% of the Tulsa tickets. KU fans travel like Kentucky fans.

Two years ago in Jacksonville, tickets to Ark-UNC were plentiful from scalpers outside.  I bought on Stubhub for $70, but ended up buying a ticket that was center court about 10 rows up for $75.  The scalper I bought it form said they were "boss man" seats which was very much true.  I ended up selling the original back to a scalper for $20.  I doubt you'll get that kind of deal with the close proximity to Carolina, but my experience is the scalper option is usually better than the ticket sites.

Oh well, life goes on.

Surely there are a few Hog fans near South Carolina...

There is a high school very close to Greenville and their mascot is.............Razorbacks!

1st SEC Tourney Experience
« Reply #19020 on: March 14, 2017, 07:54:55 am »

So went to Friday and Sunday games.  Friday was awesome.  Saw the Florida/Vandy game and then our game.  Lots of fans from all schools but mainly Kentucky of corse.  My husband did not want to go to championship game (he has been before).  Said it's ALL blue and awful.  Home game for Kentucky.  Well, he was right about  the all blue, home game part.  I will have to say the Kentucky fans that we talked to, sat by were really nice.   I was surprised.  Outside the stadium, before the game, several Kentucky fans, and local people stopped us to say, you have guts for being here in the midst of all the blue.  I could not believe how few Hog fans were there (maybe 1000-1500 tops). Anyway, it was a great experience, proud we made the final.  Cannot stand Monk (even though he is a kid), glad he is one and done.  Hopefully we can advance in NCAA tourney and sick of the committee giving us NC!!!!

Proposed tram from LSU to downtown Baton Rouge could be moving forward
« Reply #19031 on: April 17, 2017, 12:31:03 pm »

https://twitter.com/aegallo/status/854002577767354368

Quote
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome's administration has signified interest in supporting the proposed tram to link downtown with LSU, with the new mayor saying she hopes the potential success in securing money for the tram could lead to more federal dollars for transit projects elsewhere in the parish.

Broome said on the campaign trail that she supported a variety of transit options to answer Baton Rouge's traffic woes, but she did not take an outright position as a cheerleader or detractor for the tram...

Her administration is now asking the Metro Council to authorize $500,000 for HNTB Corporation to continue planning for the tram before submitting an application in September for federal money to help pay for the $170 million streetcar. The project has split lawmakers over whether to support investing so much money into one part of the city. Some argue it is a smart move, while others in north Baton Rouge and southeast Baton Rouge have complained that there is insufficient investment in transit in their neighborhoods.

Who has made the trip to Baton Rouge?
« Reply #19034 on: May 22, 2017, 06:44:15 pm »

Thinking of making the Baton Rouge trip with my gang of wild bandits this year. We made the trip to TCU last year, Ole Miss 2 years ago, yadda yadda. Needless to say, we've seen some pretty memorable Razorback road games the last few years, but we're thinking of making our marquee game this year to Baton Rouge and staying Wednesday and Thursday night in NOLA. We've got a buddy to stay with in BR, but as far as actual gameday experience goes I've heard BR can be an intense and trying time for road travelers. I was hoping to get some reaction from some of y'all that have made the trip, your thoughts and feedback on the people, tailgating, and gameday experience as a whole.

Thanks in advance y'all!  :razorback:

I'll never go back. Everything is fine if we lose like they want us to. If we happen to win it's like a war zone getting out of that stadium. Frank corn dog eating LSU fans. I can't stand them. Watched one douse a kid about ten years old with an entire beer while others cheered them on. No class.

Went in 07 , the tailgating was fun but , tiger bait was a phrase I didn't want to hear again !
During the game the fans yelled and cussed at us repeatedly ! After we won my girlfriend at the time got spit on , I had a cup thrown at me and we waited about 30 mins after the game was over to leave ...

Been there many times and can back all the horror stories. Usually the better fans police their idiots. Travel too n from the stadium in bunches is suggested. Crying shame but I've witnessed some ugly stuff. The night Dmac, felix n Peyton crapped n their cherios I saw them tip up a VW bug (dressed out in hogdom) on its side like they were gonna turn it over. There was a bunch of them so they controlled the car then let it down but only cuz the police caught em. Poor girls were scared to death. Seen lots of fights.

I went in 1999. We were 7-4, they were 2-8 but Rohan Davey had a career day and we didn't show up and lost 31-13.

LSU fans are a different breed, no doubt. There is something in the water down there.

I will never forget the girl behind me somewhere that screamed in a hideous screech the entire game 'L-S-U...L-S-U...L-S-U...' I can still hear that screech...like nails on a chalkboard.
